Zardari Regime in Hot Waters

By Rohail Butt • Nov 26th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 2 Comments

The Foundation Day of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)  was fully exploited by the co-chairman of the PPP to lash at his opponents in a very bitter manner. Before him his party acolytes from Sindh also set the stage for him by hitting in hard way at the MQM and the media.

President Asif Ali Zardari is the head of state and he must remembered that at every forum. His repetitive insistance about political actors, media channel, T.V anchors and some of the political parties that they are conspiring against demoracy doesn’t suit his stature of presidency, though sadly enough it matches his personality and aura.

President looked like a frustrated man and he just vented his anger upon the media. He boasted that establishment, parliament and the people are with him and he is here to stay and the media will fail to oust him. Musharraf also boasted that, but now he is nowhere to be seen.

Time is still left that the president should introspect and get out of this fixated trance and draw positive strength from the ongoing spate of criticism and start taking actions for the solidarity and unity of the Federation.

  1. at such a stage when Pakistan is in state of war we can not stand another government change. The media should be encouraged to support every way so that we can finish terrorism in our country. More moderate and liberal views, magazines, peace campaigns will be a plus here. Other wise it would be hard if we keep discussing these types of issues. We have come toghther as a nation to fight terrorism and we need to take this to the climax once and for all InshAllah!

  2. Are you kidding me? Do you honestly think that one-sided abusive yellow journalism does not deserve not just the president’s, but everyone’s scorn? The freedom of media is one thing but cursing the head of state is another. At a time when the media should be rallying us all together, it is only furthering the gaps and divides in our nation. ‘Fixated trance’? President Asif Ali Zardari was democratically elected by none other than Pakistanis like ourselves and deserves the respect and appreciation due to him not only for his role but for everything he’s done for Pakistan’s survival.
