Zardari Could Pull a Putin
By Shayan Khan • Dec 12th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 3 CommentsThere is every possibility that over the course of next few weeks, we might be seeing that President Zardari transfers his powers one by one through ordinances to the premier, and then after getting a public approval from the central executive committee of the Pakistan People’s Party become the Prime Minister, while implementing the 17th amendment.
Asif Ali Zardari has found that the post of president is just a ceremonial seat and though he has got powers to dissolve assembly right now, he cannot do that neither could he remove premier Yousuf Raza Gilani, because it would look like quite undemocratic and would make Gilani a needless hero. Zardari has also sensed that if he is to stay in active politics and do some thing to solidfy his place and the place of his son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, then he has to be at the hot seat.
Zardari could obtain the support of Nawaz Sharif by implementing 17th amendment and his relations with the military are not that bad as portrayed by the GEO and Jang group. All the crap about the military losing confidence in President Zardari has not been supported by any direct evidence or public statements. That’s all conjecture for now so it’s hard to say the military is orchestrating this.
And Gilani cannot stop Zardari from doing so. He has to obey the orders of chairman of the party, and that is why Zardari never let go that powerful designation.

Assalam o alaikum!
Zardari has not the imperial or dictatorship power
He has the power of people and that’s why he is the co-chairman of PPP (Pakistan Peoples Party).
Gillani was also not elected by Zardari sole.
He was elected after the all judgments of all people in PPP.
BHutto aaj b zinda hai……
Politics is all about powers, and politcians (and everyone else) are inclined to where power is. If Mr. Zardari keeps powers he is wrong, if he delegates the powers he is doing sinister what is this all nonsense. If he is doing anything to strenthen his powers what is wrong with that, anyone in his shoes would have done this, infact they are doing this. See what is happening in Punjab Govenment, where DCOs are calling party meetings of PML-N, isn’t this the NAZI/ Fascist way of doing business? There is no need to mention the MQM’s way of doing politics in Karachi. It is only PPP which is the thorn in the eye of……. since its inception.
Absolutely right Gauhar.
Zardari has the power of people.
He has not any army uniform.
If we have elected PPP for 5 years then they should be given full 5 years.
