Why Apathy is Rampant in Pakistan
By The Pakistani Spectator • Jan 29th, 2008 • Category: Pakistan Vote'08, Politics • (289 views) • No ResponsesThe part that power plays in relations between Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz and Pakistan People’s Party is coming to be better realized, understood and more vividly recognized than it was in a not so distant past.
The term “power politics” is now in such oft-quoted sentence and and an allure to be used against the present regime by the coalition of these two parties as to represent an admission of reality, which PML-Q is very severely trying to serve. But there is still a lack of public understanding as to where power lies in these two parties and how it will be exercised within the election campaign and in elections and then afterwards.
In a democratic system, power is entrusted to the representatives from these parties. These are the main organs of the the state, and should be on forefront to run and defend the affairs. If they falter nation is there to scowl, and if they good nation is there to commend, but if they don’t represent the nation, then nation remains numb and apathetic, as it is now.
