What Yousuf Should Say to Americans?
By Dr. Hassan Isfahani • Jul 30th, 2008 • Category: Politics • No ResponsesAs the luxurious plane of our premier Yousuf Raza Gillani flies towards America filled with every type of bureaucrats, journalists, advisors, officials and henchmen; there are few things which Yousuf has to keep in mind, if he doesn’t want himself to be seen like his predecessors.
Whether our premier and his aides would be frisked at the airport of United States is another matter, and it shouldn’t enervate the entourage, and neither should it case any shadows over the relationships between the masters and their lackeys, who have come to strengthen their job in the Prime Minister secretariat, Islamabad.
Well, that and besides of assurance tickets, Yousuf should also ask American officials to have some sense and don’t make the aggressive statements. First and foremost, after getting his job cemented, Yousuf should ask Americans to end the hostile posture towards Pakistan. In order to foster real change, as promised by the upcoming American administration, they should also halt fanning the flames of instability in the FATA region. That, and Yousuf must ask Americans that instead of B-52 bombers, Predator Drones, and Daisy Cutters, they must focus on spreading modernity in the region, and should spread education in the region.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani should tell the Oval Office that whether it’s three months or eight months or longer, the important thing is that the United States show a serious intention and concerted effort to gradually leave Afghanistan. He should also mention the cooperation and coordination of the Afghan War against Russia on behest of America, and the way Americans left the mess unresolved afterwards.
