What Sort of Government do we Need?
By Farid Masood • Mar 17th, 2008 • Category: Politics • (1,107 views) • 5 CommentsThe message from the nation is clear, ‘No American Agendas’. Whoever shaking hand with the President will see the wrath as we saw in case of Mr Amin Fahim.
Makdoom Amin Faheem projects himself as premier candidate but there are some problems to nominate him as Prime Minister from Pakistan Peoples Party.
First, the early nomination of PM Candidate will give an option to the Presidency and its Lota League to create conspiracies and they may be able to offer attractive remunerations to get the support of the nominated PM candidate.
Second, a weak candidate for the post of premier cannot take on with the imported policies of the president. Therefore, a suitable candidate is Mr Ahmad Mukhtar who defeated Ch. Shujaat in Gujrat. Other best options are Mr Shahbaz Sharif or Mr Zardari himself. We are till now hearing that Zardari don’t want to be the Prime Minister, and Mr Shahbaz Sharif is going to be the Chief Minister of Punjab so the best choice may be Mr Ahmad Mukhtar.
We will witness that the ministries relating to Finance, Trade, Commerce will be given to PML(N) based on their deep roots in business community and previous experience of tactfully dealing with country’s financial matter (although the game is not so easy this time). Ministry of Petroleum may also go to PML(N) due to their relation with Saudi government. The right candidate for this ministry might be Ch. Nisar Ali Khan. Ministry of labour and manpower might go to PML(N) as well.
Ministry for interior, foreign affairs & defense might remain with PPP.
MQM, PML(Q) & Muslim League (Functional) decided to sit on opposition chairs. Moulana Fazlur is supporting PPP for a bit of ice-cream. May be he is upto the Kashmir Committee or Ministry of Bahbood-e-Abbadi.
As per the expectations of the nation, the next government must take up all issues demanded by the nation on 18th February elections. The issues are pretty clear as revision in foreign policy, war on terror with in Pakistan, law and order, revision in policy to accept foreign dictations, price hike, inflation, poverty and off-course the Judiciary Issue.
In my view if President sets himself a bit on a step backward then year 2008 apart from trouble would be clear for him. In other case he may have to resign from his office in the greater interest of the country.
Lets wait and watch the episodes . . !

Hey! Bhai do we need to be professors of political science or ethics or may be socialogy or economics. It is pretty simple. We want a government in Pakistan which consists of people, for a change, who can think beyond their selfinterests. They should sincerely want to work for public good. And they should not be like the goons hungry for power and all the goodies that their single track minds associate with. It is so simple. And if Farid Masood can be so selfless then we have someone to be in politics and go for the elected office and I mean it. This is the only way of cleaning this cesspool called politics in Pakistan. Nice guys must aspire and be supported to reach the corridors of power to do common good.

Nice gesture bhai, But it is a matter of fact that Farid Masood cannot but a party ticket. If that time comes that any good person may come up from grass root to the lower or upper house level it would be the day when we can say that Pakistan is a developed country in DEMOCRACY.

Look we, you and me and millions like us, are not as impotent as the system has somehow managed to convey. Power is down at the grass root level. Only we must assert our rights and make it clear to those who rule us in the garb of being ‘democratically’ elected that it is our country, it is not for just a few thousand thugs. It is alright for anyone to aspire to be in Government, however the main motivator of such aspirations must be a desire to serve not rule. The country belongs to the 165 million Pakistanis. Democracy doesn’t come (it did not come anywhere) by itself people stood up for it.
