What Shahbaz Sharif Do?

By Ghazala Khan • Jun 7th, 2008 • Category: Politics • (4,220 views) • 4 Comments

It’s just matter of time that the current chief minister of Punjab Sardar Dost Mohammad Khosa steps down like a good boy according to the promise, and Mian Shahbaz Sharif becomes the new CM of the most populous province of Pakistan, and that would be a good change.

Even the worst and bitter critics of Sharif brother acknowledge that Punjab has seen no better CM than Shahbaz Sharif, and that reputation is needed right now more than ever with a will to act, and that action must be swift and spot on without any fear or intimidation.

The biggest challenge for Shahbaz Sharif is to bring a drastic and radical change in the socio-economic plight of the people of this province. Punjab is reviled as the suppressor of the resources of other province, while the ground realities are that except a minority elite, the common people of Punjab are as hapless and miserable as their Balochi, Sindhi or NWFP brethern, and they want change too.

Shahbaz Sharif shouldn’t limit himself to Lahore or Multan or Faisalabad or Rawalpindi, rather he should first put his eye on the remote villages and towns, and he should involve people of the locality to start a massive crack down on the social problems.  He should try to win the hearts of the people of Southern Punjab and the Seraiki belt, while facilitating the other areas.

Shahbaz has got huge potential, and this is the time that he delivers at optimum frequency.

Well said. I personally feels that Shabaz Sharif is good administrator. He is ability to lead and sense cleverness of his subordinates. I know few people will be feeling very uncomfortable after reading your post and my comments but its fact that the roads build in his time not required any rework till to date. We have examples of Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Main Boulevard Road, Canal Road, Murree Road etc in RWP and Lahore. Reason was only one… He was strict and ensured quality before giving contract to contractors. I gave you single example of roads because every body can see it.

Its now tough time for Police and other agencies because he not lets any body to dodge and acts carelessly. Those who worked under his last tenure knows it.

The first thing, he must do to return his brother’s Rs.10 billions to the national exchquer, which this mean politician still owe. Pakistan is in economical turmoil, he gets an opportunity to return at least that simple amount of money.

Are you implying that he is a better devil …
Pakistan will be better off if the current slate of politicians is completely wiped off and replaced with newer generation - He is an extension of the past and a sub-construct of Abajee…
