What I think about this whole fuss.
By Rai Azlan • Jul 8th, 2010 • Category: Lead Story • 8 CommentsIt has been five days since Lahore saw bloodshed at the most important place in Lahore, the place that is the reason behind Lahoreto be known as Data Ki Nagri (City of Data). I am not in touch with spiritualism. The only connection I have is between the greatest One and me. However, I have respect for saints that there must be a reason that people still remember them and show gratitude. Whenever I visited the tomb of Data Ali Hajvairi a different kind of peace I found there, and I feel much more relaxed than ever as all the peace lost somewhere in me, reemerged and spread all over in me.
There is an interesting thing that I noticed about being a royal and being a saint. A few miles away from Lahore there is a tomb of a great mughal king but no one is there to take care of it. It has become a so-called picnic spot and when I come back to Lahore, I find this shrine of Data Sahib. Even today whenever a hungry person visits, he does not stay hungry any more. This past Friday for the first time in last 927 years the Langar (Free Food that is distributed at Tombs and Shrines) was off as there was no langar due to the blast that took place on Thursday night.
Someone asked me what I think about all this and I was speechless, I had nothing to say and I was feeling like the city I was claiming that I am in love with was a strange place for me. I am not able to forget what happened that day. It is not the first blast took place in this city but these extremists have targeted a place that I never thought would be in news this way. I have heard different opinions of different people on this incident.
Someone said that the time of these terrorists is soon to be over as they have disturbed a great personality by spoiling the atmosphere of his tomb. Someone replied to me when I was being sad about no rain in Lahore, “how can you expect rain when you people disrespect the tombs of people like Data Sahib”. I respect both of these statements, but it is other thing if I agree to them or not. A person like me who does not even know physics cannot understand the affairs of Meta physics. Someone came up to me with an astonishing fact. He said that the people who trained these people depict Data Darbar as SomnathTemple and feed them with a view that blowing this tomb is equal to blowing a temple.
In all these days, I was thinking about this incident and similar incidents. Yes I was angry at all that happened and I was thinking about why always such attacks take place at peaceful areas and places where people talk about peace and against such evils. Why such attacks take place at Jamia Naeemia, not at Jaamia Ashrafia and Jamia Manzoor ul Islamia in Lahore, why such incident never took place at the gathering of Tableeghi Jmaat. Why people like Fazl ur Rehman and parties like Jamaat e Islami never been the target. That is a question, which I have full right to ask and think about.
For how long we will keep blaming Taliban for everything happen and then wait for the next big thing to come up? The thing that shocked me while I was gathering info about such incident was the fact that most of the time there is no proper Chelan of terrorists arrested is represented. No wonder that court let such people go based on lack of evidence. However, there is possibility that most of the times terrorists are set free after claiming,“They have been taken to an unknown place”. Why there has been no punishment given to any terrorist who was arrested. Why we still try to back them and show our support to them by declaring Pakistan army as terrorist. Such an ungrateful nation we are and I have no shame in saying that I have not seen any political party more hypocrite and more ungrateful then Jamaat e Islami, it was army who grant it second life in 80s when it was almost dead. In addition, today the head of JI, has given a statement that if there is a search operation in South Punjab then more incidents like Data Darbar will take place. I do not know about the others but I am taking it as an open challenge where Munawar Hassan is looking like the spokes man of these terrorists.
It’s the time that we have to decide that who is with us and who is not when the whole nation has declared that terrorists are not among us then people and parties like JI has got no right to support them. I mentioned two names of most famous Seminaries of Lahore, Jamia Ashrafia and Jamia Manzoor ul Islamia. Mark my words these terrorists will destroy whole Lahore (if ever they can) but will never attack these two places, because they cannot risk to destroy their training camps. By the way, these two Seminaries are from the same school of thought that declared that Pakistan is not a requirement and they have no issues with united India.
What I have seen and observed in Jamia Manzoor ul Islamia in last 4 year is enough for me to have this mind set. If anyone wants to know what I have been doing there, to answer them I used to go to the Gym which is situated almost in that particular seminary. Therefore, I am speaking out of my observation.

Time to fade from their radar. Good Luck, Man. See You on the other side.You observed them & collected the above DATA hence in my opinion your greatest wealth you have is your health. If you are out of shape, start a program now to begin to get into better health. Hard times ahead, you dont want to be out of shape. Second is food storage.
Because of this continued War Against Terror plus Jiyala Style Governance & thereupon every 2nd week big terrorist attack — everyone should drastically cut their spending. Just buy what they NEED not what they WANT! Don’t be consumerist slaves, don’t be fooled by the flashing, shiny images of new plastic crap, Visa, Master or American Express as I have already withdrawn & just focus on Cash in Bank in SAVE for rainy days before starting 3rd WW if Almighty Allah Jj may remain to me Alive. To make it short then buy silver & gold, meds, guns, bullets & most importantly; spend time with your kids or rest of own other family members.

Nice input - must read at least one time. The blogger restricted himself to his experience and his feelings about the terrorism - simple and true. About JI, the facts that the blogger described are well codumented, so there is no denying to this. During proxy war against Soviet Union’s forces in occupation of Afghanistan, these JI men had not been hesitating to pocket dollars from USA. After 1988, when exit of Soviet Union from Afghanistan occured, the inflow of dollars stopped. From then on, USA has been declared root cause of all sufferages. Today, Munnawar Hussain starts his speech with Go America Go and ends with the same slogan. On TV, when clips of Munnawar’s speech is shown with the same slogan, that reminds me of hawkers/vendors that shout repeatedly in every lane. About their political activities, their so looked irresponsible statements are not irresponsible. They now damn care about losing ground in political arena as long as they think that their statements are pleasing TTP and Alqaeda that, in their perceived minds, would establish a state within a state - there is no limits to wishful thinking.

I must say you have a good observation; your article has a kind of innocence in it that actually points towards the evil that is trying to consume the peace in our lives. All the seminaries that give a hint of extremist mindset must be banned immediately; otherwise it will be too late.
Rai Azlan has highlighted some very though provoking points. We have to stand up and speak against this assault of our faith and we have to condemn violence as a whole and be very clear about it. So it is not ok to kill Ahemdi’s and spare Data Darbar both actions are equally condemnable
I understand the pain of you mr. author. It is sad to see your city flowing in blood. I am not into spiritualism but I respect these shrines and I believe the terrorist should be punished.
It is a tragic mistake that we do not take a strict notice of Taliban propaganda and here I am not taking about the FM radio, the propaganda this is being spread by main stream channels and newspaper by Apologists and Sympathizers. The liberal and progressive elements need to unite to counter radicals.

Pakistan as being a key member of global war on terror has benefited from U.S assistance and it has shown that a well-planned strategy is likely to be successful. However we have not done well at the public relations domain as many in Pakistan due to absurd conspiracy theories view the west as an enemy. However we could not have fought this war on terror with the much needed assistance, also all of our development programs rely upon foreign aid. Such realties must be shared with the masses
