@Kashif

I appreciate your comments but I think you did not understand what I tried to say in this post (or at least in this part of the article).

All I meant was - moving from one extreme (ie opposing Taliban and supporting US) to another extreme (ie Opposing US) will not change the consequences of this war for us. We need to devise a policy that fits in between based on our own strategic interests.

Its not about advocating the war but its about how we look at this war.

Which Talibans are "real" Talibans.. that is a very subjective topic.

As for your mentioning of Hamid Mir - I have already submitted Part 2 of this artcile and you may get your answer in that.

In that case – being very optimistic – Taliban still would have used our tribal areas as “safe heavens” after being pushed out from Afghanistan; USA – for not achieving its objectives in Afghanistan – would have used its own forces to remove these “safe heavens” and have considered Pakistan as Taliban ally – and the consequences are not hard to imagine; Taliban would still have been spreading in our settled areas. In a nutshell, US would have been doing all this to us that Taliban (or militants or Al-Qaeda or whatever) are doing to us now.

If in the hindsight there is no difference in the ultimate consequences then all your advocating of this so called war on terror is absolutely bogus.

As far as Talibans are concerned only Talibans that fought in Afghanistan are the genuine ones and they really proved themselves by eliminating drugs,crimes etc and all that injustice to women is westren propaganda.

This new breed of Taliban in our Northern borders only emerged when America felt a need for that,these are not Talibans rather they are using their name just to defame them,so far none of the so called Taliban or Alqaeda's activist have been killed in the operations carried out by our military forces rather its the innocent people that are being killed and that is on record,Hamid Mir openly challenged the Government that show him the dead body of just one millitant and he would quit jouralism and he further reinstated that all this operation is carried out in the areas where there are common innocent people and our army doesn't dare entering the areas where there are millitants.

Cutting it short fighting terrorism is one thing and feigning it another.
