This Eid, Rise Above the Ashes

By Brig. (r) Junaid Zaman • Oct 1st, 2008 • Category: Politics • 4 Comments

The ravishing and dazzling festival of Eid represents an occasion to renew one’s commitment to his responsibilities, just as the fasting was throughout the thirty days of the blessed month of Ramadan ul Mubarak. Allah, the most exalted and most gracious and most merciful, has made the month of Ramadan an occasion in which the people can reassess and recommit themselves to their responsibilities that covers all the aspects of a human’s life, including the spiritual, cultural and political, since Islam considers worshipping Allah and serving the causes of the nation parts of the same code of life.

The underlying core and value of the Eid is that it represents this dedication to one’s responsibility towards Allah himself and other people. In this sense we can turn all our days into Eids, starting from this Eid. We have all around us the people who need the basic necessities of life. The ongoing wars in FATA and Swat, the victims of suicide bombers and bomb blasts in every city and town, and the needy ones are waiting for our help, and what better occasion to help them than the Eid?

Our enemies want us to acknowledge us that we have left with no alternative but to acknowledge defeat and sign, while waiting for enemy’s approval and satisfaction. We after the long dark dictatorship are still crossing the ocean of blood and tears, and this Eid must act as a moment to reassert ourselves, and we must restore our confidence and start believing in ourselves. We have to help our countrymen to rise above the ashes and to see the enemy in the eye, and say “Enough.”

  1. Tehrik-i-Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud has died after a protracted illness, unconfirmed reports say.

DawnNews said on early Wednesday morning that the militant commander died of renal failure. CNN has verified the claim.
Our reporter Ismail Khan, said that although official sources - including a political agent and a security official - were claiming that the militant was dead, there was not yet independent confirmation of his death.
Meanwhile, the Tehrik-i-Taliban has denied that their leader is dead, DawnNews reported.
Baitullah Mehsud was known to be suffering from diabetes and hypertension.
Mehsud has been blamed for much of the violence in the North West Frontier Province. He was also blamed for the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

  2. ” To see the enemy in the eye, and say “Enough”.

Yeh! Enough Please do not give us more aid and help, we already had too much this year.

    We are no hungrier.

Since we are full and in a state of satiety, give us time to rest, so to ask you later for more.

In the mean time enjoy our sites, sight and scenes, till we are hungry again to demand you more for further tourism in our place.

  3. Dear Brigadier saheb,
As you consider India as enemy, i donot think we want you to accept DEFEAT AND SIGN. This is not 1971.You are a democratic country and you are a nuclear power.your Army is one of the best in this part of world. i find during my short interaction here the women of Pakistan are the bravest and most intelligent in the world. I hear they are also the prettiest!!!
You are having trouble in rising prices, lack of electricity, but i think you are self sufficient in food.Basically all these years you have been taken for a ride by americans and saudies.Just read Quaid-e Azam’s speach after gaining Pakistan and you will find answer to many of your presentday problems. Can you find a single woman in Saudi arabia of the stature and guts of Benazir,Marvi memon and the present speaker or our own bloggers like ghazala, amina,Tazneen etc.
Perk up sir.give self confidence to your nation.Just donot blame your politicians. You have to find the TRUTH FROM YOUR OWNSELF. See turkey,Syria,Malaysia and even indonasia.
See how great nation is Paksitan only if you can see the TRUTH.

  4. Keep dancing around the issue while you enjoy Eid

There is no Eid for the families of the missing persons; there is no Eid for the families of the dead in our tribal villages.Your government/army is responsible for all this.
Go ask Gen.Kayani (one day he has to stand in a court of law to answer for his actions)ex-ISI chief…where are all the kidnapped people, and maybe when you are able to bring these people home , maybe then you can have Eid with their families.
Wake -up , the only thing that matters is to bring back true judiciary .
