According to the news sources, PML-N provincial vice president Tariq Khan has been killed on Shaheed-e-Millat road in Karachi. According to CCPO Karachi, two unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on Tariq Khan’s car and he was pronounced dead upon reaching the hospital.
There is rampant anger in the PML-N, and Karachi is once again in the grip of tension, fear and agony. PML-N chief, Mian Nawaz Sharif has wisely called upon his workers to remain calm and quiet. More wisely, Nawaz Sharif has refused to blame anyone, and instead of blaming straight away MQM, he has shown prudence and said that until and unless he gets confirm information he won’t implicate anyone.
The horrendous death of Tariq Khan is extremely condemnable and an act of sheer terrorism. Where this has given an irreparable loss to PML-N, it has provided a window of opportunity to Nawaz Sharif and his party leaders to reach out and strengthen their party in Sindh, especially in Karachi.
This is the first serious test for the new I.G. Sindh, Shoaib Suddle.
