When would we start learning lessons from the mistakes of others? Before we started fighting terrorism in our country, we have had burning and glaring examples of US fighting the same kind of war in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s exactly not the ditto copy of what we are facing in our tribal region and in the swat area, but the lessons could gleaned easily and be applied pertinently.

By pounding, by carpet bombing, and by traditional warefare this war cannot be won. It’s not the traditional army we are up against. They are guerillas, which was created ourselves and they know our techniques and they know what our strategies are. We need to deal with them with different mindset and with different stratagies.

These terrorists are attacking civilians in the cities and towns of Pakistan. They are the ones who are involved in suicide bombings, bomb blasts, assassinations, rioting and the looting. They want to throw Pakistan back into the dark ages, and want to break Pakistan. They don’t want to promulgate Islamic law here, far from it. What they want is instability and uncertainty. We are not ready to be fooled once again in the name of Islam.

Most of the suicide bombers are from remote areas which don’t have wealth, education, jobs and other modern facilities. These poor and frustrated people are being exploited and used by our enemies to their nefarious designs. In order to keep these people from falling into the hands of terrorist-makers, government need to eradicate the feeling of deprivation and despondency from among these people.
