In the season, in this heavenly place you could find thousands of young couples starting their lives amidst smiling flowers, singing ravines, majestic mountains, lavishing lakes, and ravishing sceneries. From Bahrain to Kalam, and from Matta to Kabal to Mangora, nature showed it’s beauty at zenith.
Nature is still there with all it’s beauty, but there is no more singing, smiling, and liveliness. Instead of flowers, there are bombs. Instead of ravines, there is flowing blood, and instead of laughter there is only gunfire left. If you have been to Swat, before the restiveness began, you would agree with me that there was by no means anyone could believe the law and order situation in that area. Such was the serenity of the area.
Now there is once again some hope, as there is lull in the suicide bombings and bomb attacks. Breakthrough has occurred in the talks between local Talibans and the NWFP government. Thankfully a truce is in making, and government has agreed to some demands of the militants.
A peace committee has been formed comprising of Wajid Ali Khan, MPA Dr Shamsher, Malakand DIG, DCO, Swat DPO, Maulana Ameen, Ali Bakht, Muslim Khan and Mahmood Khan. The government has accepted Taliban militants’ demand for enforcement of Nizam-i-Adl Regulation in the Malakand region, including Swat, within a month, and militants have extended their ceasefire.
One could argue that how come Nizam-i-Adl Regulation could be promulgated in only one division of the country, and why not in the rest, or one could term this action of NWFP government as bowing in front of the Taliban, but then there is no other option except force. Pakistani authorities have been using force for the last couple of years in vain. Talibans have got huge clout in that area. Almost all the local population is with them. Taliban enjoy a safe and compound support in the Malakand agency, and they are cashing in on it.
It’s the right approach by the NWFP’s ANP government to engage Talibans in the dialogues and accept their some demands. If the people of that area want to live in certain way then it’s their right and choice, as long as they don’t harass the people, who don’t want to live according to their way. NWFP government should ensure that Talibans don’t’ harass those people, especially the tourists.
Pakistanis want their heaven back.

As Hina said, I also started my new life from the valley of Swat. Its the best place on the earth. Marvelous place to visit…but now a days when I see those mountains on TV… by God, my eyes gets wet. This extremism is going to eat us or at least will excuse Int’l forces to enter Pakistan. Its our loss in both ways…either civilians kills Army or Army kills civilians.
I tell you that SWAT people are very loving people. They don’t like war or such things in their area because their whole economy is based on Tourism. I’m worried that how they will earning now a days. I tell you my experience that when I went there with spouse, we stayed in different hotels at different places of swat valley… Malam Jabba, Miandam, Kalam etc etc. Miandam hills are separate from main road of swat… so when reached in our hotel… I felt that there is no tourist in this except us. at that time, cell phone companies were also not giving service on that hill…so it made us afraid that these people can take away our money etc. Anyway I talked to my driver… He told that SWAT people never do criminal acts..for the sake on money because their whole earnings are based on Tourists…. Anyway I simply wanted to tell that SWAT was the relax place in all means…
But today. It is proving to be the worst place. I’m 100% sure that those people who are extremists not belongs to this valley. They are coming from other areas to destabilize our country. I don’t know how to tackle them but I can pray that may good time come back in this valley again.

Muskan is like smiling flowers, singing ravines, majestic mountains, lavishing lakes, and ravishing sceneries. But dear you have indulged your selves in very controversial issue. So please allow me to disregard and disown your opinion of thoughts.
Dear swat was once known as Switzerland of Asia .however being tribal belt, behavioral attitude of these mountaineers was from the beginning deviated ,with tribal rivalry and individual conflicts a day to day engagement .as you said the mode and means of earning was based on few months of tourism and rest assure. Due to which poverty and financial disability was a major factor?
Since the place was infact as far as crime are concerned was not related to the tourist or tourism, but genuinely the threats in any such tribal areas are and were of concerned to the visitor, as the same was felt by Mr. Saleem.
However since the place in the gala of ratio of public crime was not recordable in the match of threat to life or property ,the place did not proved to be of concerned to the government functionaries till last few years .
Cutting short the brief, such places in Pakistan proved to be the best residing resort for criminal activity against what has been presented in the form of Taliban or local separatist or whatever, against the state governed policies.
You see Muskan have you ever noticed or observed that why these activities root up from similar places like swat, and sister concerned.
This is because of the same theme that the local’s lives are unbearable at such places, whereas government interest is of minor attention, providing and benefiting the media to culture such disastrous insurgencies and runaways after criminal activity as hide outs.
It was from the beginning that tribal belts whatsoever were the known places for criminals that indulge in to such activities as paid murderer in cities and then revert to such places as hide outs.
In my opinion this is the root cause of such awful circumstances, what we are facing today.
You see Muskan when criminal wants to over come an area that is usually looked after by another criminal there are only two defined strategy ,one is to fight and over come and other is to attach him, to achieve goal.
Same strategy was followed here .these all time criminals were benefited of what they desired with motive to penetrate the area with the help of them in the name of whatever you call it .
We as Muslim have weakest point to stand when it is a call of some one for and in the name of Islam. This is such a cash point for any one that people may indulge their selves sacrificing whatever is demanded.
Muskan although the topic has lot offer in the contest of discussion but to curtail the discussion in the light of your article, Taliban in my opinion is a threat in the form and format of thoughts .these are the extremist that exists on the ground and criteria of threat and war and believe in the principle like mafia to make their verdict as the authority to be obeyed in any case.
For this they have opted to utilize the platform of Islam which speaks of peace harmony and love among people of different sites and scenes.
However these Taliban’s by distorting the correct picture and preach of Islam has transformed own desire and motive in to and thus utilizing mandatory Islamic essential, jihad as slogan in lieu as the appeal of time.
In my opinion this global threat is to be encountered at all levels and ladders and means so to express in a real sense the essence of Islam.
We are distinguished entity as Muslim and being Pakistani, and believe on the integrity of all man kind and nation. similarly as we believe in our sovereignty and integrity any element that may be considered as a threat and harmful element to our national security should be treated and retaliated in the same aggressive manner .this phenomena is not a new theory if, someone gets a potentially dead limb or part of the body, in medical field, it is removed so to save the life.
Similarly any thing that goes wrong in our day to day activity we rectify it by throwing, removing and cutting its base line.
These are nuisance to the nation, our people and integrity and our security forces and civilians and above all to Islam .and should ideally be treated as false interpreter and intruders, and should get the same treatment and punishment as is awarded to such culprit. in my opinion all such elements that enhance and supports these element shall equally get the share of punishment .but this punishment that is awarded should be carefully monitored as those civilians that are at stake due to their deliberate crime should get easy escape from these criminal hands .
In my opinion such act of terrorism based methodology to implement what has been desired should never get the support of government, as Pakistan is an Islamic country already with in the domain and practices of Islamic laws and regulations, being practiced at their own version by different school of thoughts with in Islam and Muslims.
The government acceptance, of Taliban terrorist demands for enforcement of Nizam-i-Adl Regulation in the Malakand region, including Swat, within a month, with cessation of terrorist activity in lieu as cease fire, is a wrong strategy that will ultimately be disastrous to the nation, and is an acceptance of failure of rule of law and writ of the state.
