Spiral Downward
By Salman Mugsi • Oct 4th, 2008 • Category: Politics • No ResponsesUS President George W. Bush has met with the commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan, General David McKiernan, with 2008 already the bloodiest year for international troops in the war-torn country since the 2001 invasion. Both men have said that their war in Afghanistan is spiraling downwards due to the support to Taliban from across the border, and they have once again urged Pakistan to do more.
What else Pakistan could do? Pakistani forces are doing a massive operation in several agencies of the tribal belt including Oarakzai, Khyber, and Bajaur and also their massive presence in the Mohmand and Waziristan agency and their efforts to quash the skirmishes in the Kurram agency have stretched the already strained resources of Pakistan, and then the continuous attacks by US drones in the FATA area are not helping the cause.
It’s easy to sit on his butt in the White House and issue orders to the lackeys, and it’s quite another to fight the war on the ground. At one side, the Pithoo of America India is supporting the terrorist group in FATA with the total support of puppet regime of Karzai, and on the other hand, America is pressurizing Pakistan to do more.
A missile strike by a suspected US spy drone hit a house in a Pakistani tribal area bordering Afghanistan, killing at least four people and wounding nine. It happened shortly after Pashtun tribesmen shot at three drones circling the village of Khusali Toorikhel in North Waziristan. All the causalities were civilian tribesman. The attack is the latest in a string of incidents on the rugged frontier that have raised tensions between Islamabad and Washington, including a clash between Pakistani troops and US-led forces in Afghanistan.
This is going no where, Dubya. Come off your tree.
