The Pakistani Spectator

These days like everyone else scouring the daily papers for snippets on who is our next PM, i came across an article which was to say the least quite hilarious and scary at the same time.

It focused on the opinion of David Levy, who is an expert in artificial intelligence and the current president of the International Computer Games Association. Mr Levy thinks that in a few short years we will all have the option of using robots made in pleasing forms for sex.

Apparently even now American and Japanese companies are making dolls with lifelike skin as well as functions for this purpose. Priced at USD 7000 each. Levy in his book “Love and Sex With Robots” (released last week) claims that it will not take long before someone in the adult industry wakes up and puts a pile of money into R&D to come up with a robot that does a lot more than serving drinks.

Researchers now predict that the first models will come out in about 5 years, equipped with sensors all over them which when activated(by touch i am guessing) would lead the robot to utter arousing phrases and umm indulge. In about 40 or so years they will be able to replace men or women entirely in bed.

This is off course just the scary part, the funnier part is that many psychologists are predicting that women will take more easily to these robots then men. Why? well because on a general level women are more pissed off or dissatisfied by their mates performance and historically they fell in love with vibrators quite easily.

As far as my personal opinion is concerned i think the whole internet/pc/gaming/tech industry has turned this world into a planet of freaks where instant gratification is the norm and social isolation the preferred mode of practice. The paper i read this in was the “Daily News, i guess we are becoming enlightened enough to discuss such issues these days. The question is though, how do articles focusing on things like this help or enlighten Pakistanis?
