Sanctity of Agreements and Zardari
By Dr. Hassan Isfahani • Aug 25th, 2008 • Category: Politics • One ResponseWe need a leader at the top who sees clearly the challenges faced by the people of Pakistan in a changing world. We need such a leader, who change Pakistan but maintain his personal integrity and solidarity. The last thing we need right now in Pakistan is noisy confusion, uncalled-for turbulence and swaggering display of stubbornness.
With the ruling coalition taking last breathes, the statements of our prospective future presidents are very alarming. He says that agreements and accords are not Hadiths and Quranic verses, and it’s not necessary to keep one’s words and it’s not really mandatory to fulfill the accords hundred percent. He is of the view that accords could be pursued for a fraction and there is no binding on the either partner.
Genuine agreements emerges from looking to the hearts and minds of your people to find best possible solutions. The hearts and minds of the people spoke on 18th February. These people wanted dictator out and his all actions undone. Dictators are out after much ado, but his actions are still being protected and protracted by the new rulers who are fearful of the shadows of past.
If agreements are so fragile and meaningless, then why should NRO be respected, Mr. Future President?
