Revenge Through Votes

By Sameer Shaharyar • Feb 19th, 2008 • Category: Pakistan Vote'08, Politics, Worth A Second Look • (878 views) • No Responses

PML-Quisling is reeling. It’s chief Chaudhary Shujaat has lost in his home constituency of Gujrat by the hands of PPP’s Ahmad Mukhtar by a big lead. All the ministers of previous PML-Q regime lost ignominiously, and nation gave its verdict against them.

It was a referendum against the curbs on judiciary, media, and the misery through which people of Pakistan facing for the last five years. The progressive results, which are giving now account of routing of PML-Q’s leadership, are clearly indicating the fury of Pakistanis. They have followed Bilawal’s word and have taken their revenge through their votes.

A multi-flavored diverse alliance is in the offing, and it would be unique in its kind, in which in the center PPP, PML-N and ANP are emerging (might be joined by MQM). This kind of formidable alliance would be extremely hard for President Musharraf to control, and it wouldnt tow his line, and it would be a very workable counterweight to the power of Musharraf.

Invisible hands would try their utmost to create rifts between PML-N and PPP, and leadership of both these parties need to show maturity, tolerance, humbleness, and political acumen. Future is Their.
