Aftab S. Alam Says: May 21st, 2008: Listen my friend Farid Masood (allow me to call you a friend because as I see it you and I both want honest, sincere, devoted, politicians in our national life),.....
....I wish that we also had some politicians who we all felt so much in love with, who we could honestly feel sympathy and solidarity with. Now, that comes from honest dedicated public service.

Farid Masood Says: May 21st, 2008 : Aftab S. Alam: "we don’t have such system (or if i say our leaders) don’t allow any sincere, honest, hardworking, intelligent, devoted, loyal person to come up, Just look into our organization a boss cannot afford a technical & intelligent sub-ordinate.

In such system we cannot have a couple of good leader for our nation. NROs like bullshits allow persisting leadership to remain on our heads. Not to pinch you, tell me a person on Honda 50 cc could live a luxurious life in England having no way of income. Such leaders are not required for this nation."

NOW THAT IS THE POINT. OUR PROBLEMS ARE MUCH OLDER THAN NRO OR MUSHARRAF'S PRESIDENCY. WE CAN NOT REASONABLY EXPECT THE SYSTEM TO CHANGE ITSELF. WE MUST SYSTEMETICALLY STRUGGLE TO CHANGE IT. THE MOMENT WE TRY TO INDIVIDUALIZE THE ISSUE, IT BECOMES A POLITICAL FOOTBALL. WE, ALL OF US, START FIGHTING AMONG OURSELVES AND THE SYSTEM STAYS INTACT AND THE BENEFECIARY OF SUCH ROTTEN SYSTEM CONTINUE IN POWER AT OUR COST.

Saleem Sahab, you know the seeds of Grameen Bank were sown already back in 1976 when Professor Muhammad Yunus, a Fulbright scholar and Professor at University of Chittagong, launched a research project to examine the possibility of designing a credit delivery system to provide banking services targeted to the rural poor. Grameen Bank Project was already transformed in October 1983, into an independent bank by government legislation.

Don't just reject what this lady Ms. Zafar is doing - I think it is a great project and we all must support it at least with our genuine good wishes. It cooperates / has suppport of the Grameen Bank people. It will work here too. It must work here if we all support it.

Dear Aftab, thanks for information about micro finance bank but I holds reservations about this bank, if you want to compare it with Grameen Bank. Grameen Bank is one of its own kind and they are rigidly practicing their rules and regulations for giving loans to needy people at very low markup...where as this Micro Finance Bank has nothing new...same practices of giving loans to their close ones or on references.

Listen my friend Farid Masood (allow me to call you a friend because as I see it you and I both want honest, sincere, devoted, politicians in our national life),

you must have heard about Senator Ted Kennedy's illness. Now, if you go to CNN website you will find such huge outpour of sentiments for him from his country men and women from every walk of life. It's such a moving thing to experience and I wish that we also had some politicians who we all felt so much in love with, who we could honestly feel sympathy and solidarity with. Now, that comes from honest dedicated public service. Here I got some examples randomly picked:

- Ted Kennedy: A Champion in the hearts of past, present, and future immigrants I send my best wishes and prayers to Senator Kennedy and his family. May God help you in this difficult moment. Be strong and fight for your life so you can continue helping all people - especially immigrants. Thank you for all you have done and for inspiring all of us to serve the humble, the hard working, and the voiceless of our people.

- May God be with the senator and his family now and in the days to come.

- I am a cancer survior and I believe Senator Kennedy is a survior. Our prayers are with you and your family. Remember you can do all things thur
Christ who strengthen you.
Faye

- Ted Kennedy is a True American Hero and has represented our Country for over 45 years in the Senate. My heart and Prayers are with him and his family.

Attention of Mr Saleem Khan: I rememeber a few days back you mentioned your disappointment about Grameen Bank seeking permission to operate in Pakistan and State Bank turning down the request. You will be pleased to note that with association and guidance of the Grameen Bank, this lady Roshaneh Zafar has set up The Pakistan Microfinance Network and doing a great, great job over here. You can check them out at the following sites:

http://www.pmn.org.pk/link.php?goto=governance

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UaLMyf6gUc

(you can see Roshaneh's interview here)

Introduction

The Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) is a network of organizations engaged in microfinance and dedicated to improving the outreach and sustainability of microfinance services in Pakistan.

Compared to some other countries, the microfinance sector in Pakistan is in the initial stages of development. Estimates suggest that as many as 5.6 million households in Pakistan need microfinance services, but services reach only a tiny fraction of this population, probably less than one percent. If microfinance is to achieve its potential, and serve a large share of the microfinance market, practitioners must improve their programs. The PMN in an effort to address these issues has become increasingly active since 1999. The network has been able to establish its membership, activities, and credibility. It has built greater awareness among policy makers, launched comprehensive capacity building initiatives, and established standards and benchmarks for transparency in MFIs.

Farid Masood Says: (May 20th, 2008) "Aftab S. Alam - you just oppose things for the sack of nothing, my dear none of our leaders have brain, do our PM posseses it? Come on give me any hint of any one present in the scene do have brain"

Farid Masood, if "none of our leaders have brains" then don't you think that it's about time that we all agree on just one single agenda and that should be total rejection of this so called leadership all these tried, tested, failed, and rejected people must be forced to go home and leave us alone. I am sure that we the 165 million Pakistanis have at least couple of people who do have brain and who are honest and who are able and willing to serve the people and the country.
