Reason of Delay in PPP’s Nomination for PM

By Ali Yar Khan • Mar 8th, 2008 • Category: Politics • 3 Comments

Lots of Central Executive Committee meetings have been held. Lots of meetings have been done between Asif Ali Zardari and the elected members of Pakistan People’s Party, and all one finding the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. After every meeting, Asif Ali Zardari wanted more discussions with newly elected MNAs before taking a final decision, allowing the guessing game to continue for another few days.

Lots of names have been pondered upon.  Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar are being kept in pressure cooker, and all of them are rallying hard for themselves.

After the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, it was a common knowledge that  Makhdoom Amin Fahim would be the candidate for the premiership from People Party, and that perception was there even after the results of elections were announced on 18th February.

After the routing of PML-Q, Pervez Musharraf and State Department in Washington managed to control Makhdoom Amin Fahim, and Zardari didnt like it. Zardari started analyzing other names, and then he received severe pressure from USA and KSA in that regard and he was pushed hard to nominate Makhdoom Amin Fahim as the person for PM.

This contention is the real reason behind the put off behind the announcement of Prime Minister for PM from the cadres of PPP.

  1. AMERICA, ARMY , ALLAH. Will the voices of people count or the Americans and Saudies will control this nations future?

  2. Nation has given their verdict but problem is with selected MNA’s and MPA’s. They forgets that why people gave us votes. I’m also loosing hope that we won’t able to find true politician in near future. Every body starts thinking himself or his part after winning election. Starts giving excuses on the basis of past practices. When we will learn from past instead of supporting their actions on behalf of wrong practices of past. PPP is doing same right now. Whole Pakistan is seeing towards them but they are not not realizing peoples wishes.

  3. Why did we know that something like this was going to happen, the indecision and delays are being seen in a very poor light by supporters and voters. If the party leadership cannot decide something that was agreed in principle before the elections then what hope is there of running the country and especially a consensus one of that. This does not bode well for Pakistan !
