Prime Minister Asif Ali Zardari ???

By The Pakistani Spectator • Feb 6th, 2008 • Category: Politics • One Response

In an interview to Newsweek, Asif Ali Zardari has said that he would like to be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan, because Benazir Bhutto, who was murdered in Rawalpindi last year, wrote in her will, so he finds himself so “compelled” to do that.

One wonders, why Asif didnt feel that much compelled when he announced Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the chairman of party and Mahkhdoom Amin Fahim as the PPP candidate for the top slot. It seems that the cat is coming out of the bag, though rather hastily. Zardari is the symbol of corruption and mistrust in the country, and he was the prime reason behind the downfall of Benazir’s two term in the office, both of which ended prematurely in an ignominious fashion.

Zardari, who is more known for his horses and commission in percentages isnt even liked within his party and in the Sindh province, which is traditionally the stronghold of Pakistan People’s Party, and rumors surfaced just after Benazir Bhutto’s Burial that many Sindhi leaders of PPP were apprehensive about Asif’s designs, and now their fears have come true. Makhdoom Amin Fahim was the first to get in background and he wasnt even present at the fisrt press conference by Asif in Naudero after the assassination of Benazir.

It is learnt that there is very wide fissures appearing in the cadres of PPP, and establishment would be extremely happy. Future of PPP is even more bleak now, if Zardari goes on with his desires.
