BrahMos missile fails to hit target in user trial

New Delhi: India’s BrahMos surface-to-surface cruise missile could have failed in its first-ever user trial on Tuesday at the Pokhran test range of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.
Sources say the Indo-Russian missile failed to hit its target after it was fired by the Army on Tuesday morning.
The test-firing is first ever to be conducted by the Army after the missile was inducted in June 2007.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said that there was was “small hitches” in the last stage of the test-firing but sources say the missile did not meet its ‘operational parameters’ and deviated from the pre-planned course.
Sources say the test-fire was a setback but ‘quiet normal’ during the development of any new missile system. More firing trials will be required to identify faults in the system.
The BrahMos, which has been described as a stealthy cruise missile that can deliver a 200 kg payload to a target 290 km away at speeds exceeding 2.8 Mach, has been in service with the Navy and was inducted into the Army in 2007.
Surprisingly, the first user test firing took place almost two years after its induction indicating that the missile was being fine-tuned by the joint Indo-Russian scientific team that is working on the project.
BrahMos has been named after rivers Brahmaputra of India and Moscow of Russia.
During the visit of Russian Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov to India late last year, an agreement was reached between the two countries for development of a hyper-sonic BrahMos missile, an improvement on the already-developed supersonic missile, termed as “the most advanced” in its category.

Pak test-fires Babur missile, the rival to Brahmos

Islamabad: Pakistan on Wednesday successfully test-fired the terrain-hugging Babur cruise missile, which is capable of carrying warheads and hit targets within a range of 700 km that includes many Indian cities. The Babur or Hatf VII missile can carry conventional as well as non-conventional nuclear warheads.
“The test will consolidate Pakistan’s strategic capability and strengthen national security,” a defence statement here said. President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz congratulated scientists for the successful launch.
Pakistan officials said the test-firing was a routine one. Babur missile, flaunted by Pakistan’s military as rival to Indo-Russia joint venture Brahmos cruise missile, was first tested in 2005 with a range of 500 km.
The missile was later test-fired in March 22 this year with an ‘enhanced’ range of 700 km. Pakistan officials say the Babur missile is “highly manoeuvrable with pinpoint accuracy.”
India apparently was not informed of the test-firing as the pre-notification agreement of missile tests pertains only to ballistic missiles and not cruise missiles.

Home made Indian recipe for cruise missile
Take a piece of jar, made up of any material less plastic
Pointer one end with or pencil cutter
Get a large box of match at least 40 sticks
Remove its powder, mix it with kerosene
And fill your jar with it.
Put the jar over red hot stove
Sit on it and get ready for target hitting.
Please note you need to direct your missile by moving it with angulated shoulders other wise your target may be missed.
Enjoy home made Indian recipe of cruise missile.
(It’s a collaborated and joint venture of indo –Russia advanced technology.)
