Pardesi Leaders : Desi Awam : Silver Lining
By Ghazala Khan • Jul 10th, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 21 Comments •I still remember the tall claims made by Mian Nawaz Sharif, the chief of Pakistan Muslim League from London, when he was in exile that how desperate he was to come home among his own people and how dire he was feeling by not servicing his nation any more, and how badly he wanted to render his services to the people, once again.
I can clearly recall the painful cries of the late Benazir Bhutto, the former chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party about her agony in her self-imposed exile, and her yearning for coming back to her own people as soon as possible and her pining for the chance to service the masses once again.
Right now, nothing is ideal for the nation, nothing at all. A formidable dictator is reeking in the President House, while uncertainty is the order of the day in tribal region and many of the settled areas of NWFP, and Balochistan is slipping out of hand steadily with militancy and food soldiering on the rise. Economy is in shambles and has gone beyond the point of melting down. Social pillars are shuddering and shortages of basic commodities of life are threatening the lives of the common people, who voted on 18th February for change, and didn’t know that they were hoping against hope.
Well, while we sulk and suffer here, our leadership is out of the country for a change and to get themselves refreshed to rule the hapless creatures in this hapless country.
- Asif Ali Zardari is in Dubai after visiting Turkey, Greece and London
- Nawaz Sharif in in London
- Prime Minister was in Malaysia and now in Dubai
- The whole cabinet of Prime Minister is in Dubai
- Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan is in London
- Farooq H. Naek is in London
- Speaker National Assembly Fehmida Mirza is in Saudi Arabia
- Senate Chairman Muhammadmian Soomro is in the United States
- Hina Rabbani Khar and Rehman Malik, the advisors to PM are also in Dubai
- Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has gone to the United States
- Chaudhary Shujaat is about to go to Spain
And you call them leaders? What their absence tell us? Even this has got a silver lining. This means that presence or absence of these idiotic clowns doesn’t make a damn difference, and country could go without them, and we do not need them.
What we need is a true leader, who kicks the Musharraf out of Camp Office, who shun all these double standard politicians, and who harmonize the country from Karachi to Khyber, and who keeps all the institutions including army, judiciary, legislature and executive at their respective places, and who revolutionarize the way Pakistanis go about their lives. We need leaders and not parasites.

It’s not Musharraf. It’s his Muhajir breed.
Bas****s!
Good comments from my bro on Plans to Disintegrate Pakistan
Why did you remove that article quickly from the frontpage of this website?
To save your “ADJECTIVE” unicellular brains from disintegrating!
Zahid
you looks too prejudice towards a specified community. If some people are politically cashing this term ,it dosnt mean that whole community is doing anything wrong. Most of mohjair community is doing excellent jobs even living in city of horror and darkness and I really praised them that even in hard times they never think of leaving it as they know veyr well the side effects of migration from their original homeland.
Ghazala has given excellent summary of our 5 star international leaders and her words are free of any prejudice attitude.Yours such prejudice attitude can lead towards riots and hate culture and as a nation we cant afford it any more.Try to attack on personalities that is your democratic right but please dont hit a specifc community as it should be your moral and social duty.
Ms. Ghazala, The reason all the “leaders” of Pakistan are out of the country is that, they want to be the first to get their hands on the new iPhone 3G…:)
Nazia, demented slugs like Zahid are insignificant. He and his prejudice! Wow!
“Try to attack personalitioes” - Good advice, you really practice what you preach! I like it.
Original Homeland! I was born here like you were (most likely) and the “original” homeland you are referring to was the only homeland for your parents as well as mine and its name used to be INDIA - right?
Now, these “leaders” elected democratically, to boot. Good thing, I notice that even you all have started noticing their talents. Is that not what I have been trying to point out all along?
Ghazala, I am so plaesed to note that finally you and I disagree only on one single point which hardly is an issue, at least, not in my judgement. Yes, you guessed it. President Musharraf and his place of domicile. One, has he not publically declared that he will abide by the decision of the parliament and if impeached. He will leave. Now, what is keeping the parliament from even starting the proceeding? Two, has he not proved to be more at home in Pakistan then the rest of the “leaders” who prefer the places where ever they are at the moment as you pointed out? Talk about the history of these guys corruption and plundering and compare them with Musharraf’s record and you will find Musharraf a saint as opposed to them. You all label him a dictator; is he really one? Does democracy mean only electibility and worse by any means. Please, enlighten me!
The deal between PPP and Mush is preventing the parliament to impeach the president. If Nawaz independently move it in lower house, the coalition may break apart or Mr NRO may be pressurized to do it. Musharraf after having assurance by the ‘Abba Jee’ that no one is going to impeach him gave this statement that if parliament impeach him he will respect it.
Alas, we don’t have any leader left not even Benazir Bhutto was.
The “Abba Jee” died and is burried in Lahore leaving his confused and brainless cabbage of a son as a legacy for us poor Pakistanis to deal with. When he was around at least he was trying to get somewhere even if for the fear of the “Abba Jee” and his ‘danda’. The “Abba Jee” could have, in his wisdom, advised his “prodigies” to refrain from screwing up this poor nation.
Zahid, the article “Plans to Disintegrate Pakistan” is there on the front page, in the category “Worth a Second Look”. The Lead Stories normally remain for 24 hours on the site, and then they move towards their respective categories.
regards
Dear Ghazala,
Why these electted CIVILIAN leaders are out and are discussing pakistan problems in Dubai or London?Basically they fear wiretap by Army and intelligence agencies which in turn is in control of Musharaff. Why Musharaff was trying to prevent Benazir and Nawaz to come to Pakistan and the reason will answer the fear of these CIVILIAN leaders. They also fear their PAST which is corruption and the educated middleclass want their leaders to be lily white. They cannot understand CORRUPTION is part and parcel of politics and democracy.
The retired generals and their supporters in army and intelligence are waiting for their chance to comeback to power and IMPATIENCE OF ELITE is their weapon.
Abraham Licoln, the aircraft carrier is in arabian sea and Indian embassy is attacked and we in India want training camps in Pakistan to be attacked and pakistan must face this truth that it cannot function as REST AND RECREATION CENTRE for world jehadies just because they are called LET,JAISH or alqueada but call themselves SOVEREIGN nation.
Let us start seeing the things around us in its true perspectives. We must realize that Pakistan is only let to live in this region; that its ‘proud inhabitant’ here have proved to be good at, to act as hirelings and may pose as best masquerades ( hypocrites). We are best in our performances that while wearing the masks of humility and priestly garbs are always ready to do any thing for moneys; even to stab in the backs…to have our own ends meet but the stabbing that we often do is in the back of our own mother land.
The prime job of this country assigned is to act as proxy of western powers; to assist them to full fill their hegemonic ambitions in the area. We get paid handsomely in return. We may be trying to find our future in our democratic way of life but our masters they need authoritarian governments; one man show business to deal with; yes we may be allowed to have an artificial aura of democracy for the window dressing and to keep the monster of public opinion harnessed but there are series of conspiracies broiling behind the closed door. For instance; staging the proxy wars with in FATA and on Pak-Afghan border and keep the flags of purported terrorism up; and to keep the masses deluded by creating mayhem and anarchy in the society.
This country has duly been trapped in the web of democracy, for at least next few years; strange enough our non elected guest visitors leading their life of opulence, of villas, palaces and Headquarters in London and Dubai has been accepted in Pakistan to lead us; the Pakistanis are told to call them the leaders. Ghazala khan is right to use the phrase of ‘hapless people of a hapless country’ that how hopeless and disgraced they feel when they find that their prime minister after attending G8 conference at Malaysia rather than coming to Islamabad, lands up in Dubai Headquarters for debriefing and further instructions. Our new national decision making headquarters are in Dubai or London.
Ooooops
It was Muslim D8 Conference and not G8 conference
absolutely agree with Farid Masood. There’s aint MPL-N leadership but PPP political actors who are shackled by the NRO. One day mr. Zardari talked abt impeachment of Mushi, NO govt under Musharruf, We will not accept him in any case. On the next day, NRO keeps his mouth shut against mushi.
The difference b/w Nawaz And Zardari is so different. Zardari can be entices easily but Mian Nawaz Sharif…… Not at all.
every country has a government it deserves. Joseph De Maistre hope he did not have us in mind
and they spend our precious foreign currency which is already very scarce!!
I dont know how I skipped this article because this lady Ghazala Khan is good in writing nice posts. That can cover all aspects of her topic. Very impressive indeed. I seems that she did full research and then wrote it.
No doubt, we need a Leader not Politicians. A leader who can feel pains of common man, a leader who can hear cries of innocent girls, a leader who can feel heat of sunshine on naked bodies of poor people, a leader who can feel hunger, a leader who can feel cries of children for piece of loaf and milk, a leader who can feel cold of December etc etc.
Dear Ghazala, being a good a common citizen of Pakistan. I found only few people around me, who are 100% fair. Otherwise majority is unfair and biased and always keeps their own interests ahead of society interests. I can openly say that in my all relatives, only I found my father at that level. who always remained fair but such people gets nothing in this cruel society. Anyway keep it up. We will find leader soon. My prayers are with Pakistanis always.
Saleem Khan, I like your astonishment about some one doing research before writing. What a surprise, ha, Saleem Khan? It is a good policy, though, try it next time (he!he!).
Research in this manner that she knows location of so many personalities at the time of writing. She mentioned their names plus location too. Off course every body first thinks about topic, then complies data, then writes post on the basis of that available data and information. But few guys comes and writes haphazardly.
Their is no need to kick Musharraf out of the office at least for now beacuse if we are to get this set of leadership which cant remain in their country for more than 24 hours then its better for them not to remain here at all.
In our entire listing of active leadership it is perhaps the President who is sticking in the country the reasons maybe different.
Or rather they are differenet yet still in case of an eventuality ” his desire to stick with the chair” may provide us with a leader how so ever defacto who is atleast present on the Pakistni soil.
By the time those asses in London and Dubai reach here…………….the situation can be entirely diff in any evenuality.
Zardari was mentoning Sonia Gandhi model…. But perhaps his intelligent adviors Hussain Haqqani Rehman Malik and Farooq h Naek didnt infrom hin the Sonia Gandhi has left the country for only 3 -4 times during past three and a half years.
P.S. Get me a decent leadership who remain in the country and maybe I would be the one knocking down the Presidency door myself
Yeah, there is so much content on this site, and it keeps rotating, not-gifted mere mortal like me is very irked about this. My backlog of article is increasing, but then its my fault.
Jazak Allah
Anything I can do for you TPS?
