Pakistan’s Routine Economic Meltdown

This has been the norm. While the United States and other countries of the world have seen the depressed economies after almost a century, for Pakistan this is a norm and a thing of routine.
Every new government starts it’s tenure by visiting the Washington and New York and telling the world financial institutions that they have got the best team to use their aids, donations, loans and other monetary funds. Then these desi gurus go to the IMF, World Bank and other financial hubs to beg for money to pump into the economy standing on artificial limbs.
That is the exact thing happening once again in the country. This time it is no different. This government has even employed the same people from the previous era of Musharraf, as they have grown polished in begging and squeezing more and more funds and loans from the Gora Sahab. One of them is Shaukat Tareen. Shaukat Tareen said that a positive assessment of Pakistan’s economy by the International Monitory Fund would spur international lenders to release funds to enable the country avoid a debt default.
This time they say that Pakistan needs $bn to avoid economic meltdown. Pakistan needs five billion dollars from multilateral lenders and friendly countries to avert a balance of payments crisis, the prime minister’s adviser Tareen has told the Pakistanis with “proud”, and what’s more the IMF has agreed to provide just that even $1bn more.
Is this the matter of pride or shame? How long it would like this?
