Pakistani Girls Rapes on Rise
By Amna Gilani • Aug 24th, 2008 • Category: Misc • 34 Comments •According to the media reports, A 13-year-old schoolgirl was kidnapped, raped, killed and thrown in an area with dense growth of vegetation in Gulzar-e-Quaid, Rawalpindi. According to the hospital sources, she was so brutally gang-raped by more than dozen people, she couldn’t sustain her life.
In a similar horrific incident, one Suhail Khan raped a nine-year-old maid in a house in Banni, Rawalpindi. Though he was arrested but then was released on bail, according to the mother of the victim.
In yet another terrible incident, a girl of age 22 was gang-raped in Lahore and then criminals hanged her to death after molesting her for hours.
In Badin, Sindh two minor sisters were gang-raped in the outskirts of the city and then both were killed and thrown into a deserted well, and their bodies were found after a week.
Such incidents are becoming more and more rampant in our society. People commit these horrendous crimes and if by luck they are arrested, they get themselves free either through bribing police or through the shenanigans of the lawyers who exploit the loopholes in the blind law.
Absence of justice is the root cause of spread of such barbaric crimes with the daughters of this country.

Unidentified people cut the tongue of a youth after their failure to molest him near village Dhoodu Chak in Shakargarh tehsil of Narowal district on Wednesday.
Some unidentified culprits kidnapped Hafiz Muhammad Tayyub, of Mankera village, took him to nearby fields and to molest him. Tayyub raised hue and cry due to which their effort to assault him got spoiled. Frustrated assailants later cut his tongue with a sharp edged weapon and fled after abandoning him in critical condition.
Locals informed the police on which they rushed to the scene. Tayyub was later taken to Shakargarh THQ Hospital. The police also registered a case.
I have read some of this before…mostly of the women who survive but are shunned by their usually male relatives. I shall continue to read and try to stay informed of these issues. It is very hard for us Westerners to understand how a child’s life could have such little value and indeed why we do not hear more of these things in the West. Is there a concerted effort to keep these things quiet in Pakistan?

Rapes are on the rise because girls are making it easier than ever to be preyed upon. Let me ask girls, by openly giving your cell number, how do you know that the person who is going to call you isn’t a rapist.
