Pakistan Nuclear Assets Are Safe, Take Care of Your’s

By Brig. (r) Junaid Zaman • Nov 9th, 2009 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 13 Comments

People like Seymour M. Herch waste no moment to ridicule the efforts and sacrifice of Pakistan military and Pakistani people in the war against terror, which was started  by the Americans, and the primary reason why this war is still going on is that the Americans are failing in Afghanistan and their presence in the region is the trigger for the terrorists to carry out suicide attacks and bomb blasts in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The idea which unaware, intellectually-crippled and foolhardy people like Seymour are nursing that the Pakistani nuclear devices could fall into the hands of the militants is as far away from reality as anything could be. It was America who was irresponsible and ruthless by dropping atom bomb on Japan, and just recently their B-52 bomber flew into the air, loaded with nukes without any check. Pakistan knows how to safeguard it’s most cherished asset.

Even then to satisfy the psychologically bankrupt Americans, Pakistan agreed to American proposed Pakistan Counterinsurgency Capability Fund, providing immediate assistance to the Pakistan Army for equipment, training, and “renovation and construction.” There are rumors that there are Americans strike forces in Islamabad and then there is ever-present talk about the Blackwater, Xe and other mercenaries. According to the AfPak strategy by Obama regime, Pakistani forces are penetrating deep inside the Taliban safe heavens and the terrorists are on the run, but the Pakistani civilians are getting blown up in the retaliatory suicide bombings.

And yes all that talk about the mutiny from within Pakistan army is bullshit to say the least. Pakistan army is fighting against the militants for years. They defeated them in Swat and now chasing them fast in South Waziristan. Army did operation in Lal Masjid. Is there any revolt in Pakistan Army so far?

Pakistan army is not like US army, ok? And Mr. Seymour, it would be better for you to not to write columns in hangover condition.

  1. Brig is sending warning to US army
He growls like paper lion on HER
Pakistan army is not like US army, ok?
    bravo , courageous excellent.

Dont forget that our country managers including army and civilian have already allotted full military facility to US marines near Khota plant.
rest are busy in exercises with modern weapons in other military bases of Pakistan.
These are facts and acknowledged by all state officials without any guilt.

  2. Brigdier Saheb,
Pakistan as a nation(you cannot pin it on Musharaff alone) betrayed TALIBAN in Afghanistan to save your Nukes. You require your nukes as a smaller nation as a defence against your mortal enemy India. But instead of asking for a deal similar to Indo/US deal, you are saying( I mean about 50 of your retired and serving generals and foreign policy experts)that just remove nukes of India we will remove our nukes. WHY?
You require your nukes and India requires its own nukes. We face threat from China which is demanding nearly 90,000 sqmiles of our territory. We can never match china with conventional arms as you also cannot match India only with conventional arms.
By the way Americans may think the nukes are in Kahutha but India knows they are located in North wazirstan.

  3. Johann, Nukes are in SWA? No I guess they are in Kabul :)

  4. India’s Nukes are a nuisance for the entire region! China must reclaim its territory from Indian and so should Pakistan. India is not a nation….it is a hotchpotch of totally different people often with totally conflicting cultures living together. Minorities like Sikhs Muslims and Christians have been living under untold oppression for 62 years.

Solution: Balkanize India into at least 25 plus newer nation states for the sake of peace and stability in the region. Any help from China and Pakistan will be most welcome. Breaking of India is in the interest of here own impoverished people!

  5. Prem Singh:

Here I thought was some serious discussion, jokes after some time, please !!

  6. Pakistan nukes are safe since time immemorial. This news should be aired on television and the channels that are being aired to our long lived enemy India. I hope media stands up again and again for airing news like this as the world should know that Pakistan has a lot patriots and its not a country just with terrorism. Pakistan media can then easily fail the strategy of that show us as a terrorist country!!

  7. Seymore’s report is just a traditional tactic by a journalist to get attention by creating dramatic sensations.

Now lets think like a terrorist who wishes to obtain pakistan’s nuclear assetts. Following are the challenges he face when thinking about it.

    1. How could it be known that where exactly those weopens are. How could they know which one is a dummy site and which is real one. For that they need some intelligence which is almost impossible to obtain for a group of people who are themselves constantly on the run.

    2. Now lets suppose somehow they come to know whereabouts of pakistani nuclear weopens(from a foreign source). Now the problem for them will be how they gona attack it. Obviously by adopting suicide tactics they may only break the front gate which is not sufficient to capture weopens. They need to attack a particular site with atleast a 1000 militants and that too with an element of surprise. Now how can they gather and move such resources and get near to any site without detection Impossible!.

    3. Now lets suppose they succeed in doing this and they have launched an attack. Now obviously they need 3:1 numerical superiority to overrun the site which obviously they wont have and its nearly impossible to defeat the highly trained and aware troops to get into site. Additionally to gain complete control it will take atleast take 4 to 6 hours. By that time Pakistan can litterally call its whole airforce and can even airlift a whole brigade to reinforce the site. So its more than impossible to lauch a successfull attack on any of the nuclear sites. But a suicide attack can be lauched for propaganda purposes like the one at GHQ.

    4. Even if they get their hand on a nuclear weopen how they gona operate it and break codes they need special expertise for that. Then how they gona move the weopen as they may be surrounded by the time they get it. Additionally they would like to use this weopen against western cities now how they gona transport it to the west. Obviously every such weopen has devices from which it can be traced.

If al-qaeda wanted nuclear weopens probaly they already have it, not from pakistan but from soviet sources when the soviet union collapsed and every soviet made weopen including jet fighters were on sale in black markets. Since they contacted some retired scientists in late 90s it can be suggested that they already had something and were looking for expertise.

I think the most vunerable nuclear weopens are those which the US have. Last year a bomber was loaded with a A-bomb and flew across US without anybody knowing that a A-Bomb is airborne. Such is the security of nuclear weopens in west and they have concerns about ours.

The concern about our nuclear weopens is just a western propaganda and by doing this propaganda they need assurances and by getting assurances they get to know about our program more and more. Anyways the west doesnt know that the east is not as naive as it was before that anybody comes and colonise it. We have learned from our past and wont allow any form of east india company anymore.(kerry lugar bill)

  8. After the successful completion of phase one of Pak army ‘s operation in Swatt-Malakand the stooges of TTP have completely been wiped out. Even Fazlu is also on the run. The second phase in South Waziristan is also progressing very well——- and victory is in sight—Insha Allah. Pak Army successes have simply eroded all the hopes and dismentalled all the design of CIA and her collaborator-our arch enemy India. They are so baffled.

The acute desperation of American think tanks can also be seen in the New Yorker’s paper written by Seymour M Hersh “Defending the Arsenal——–In an unstable Pakistan, can nuclear warheads be kept safe?”
Very sheepishly the man has floated yet an other idea that although Pakistani arsenal—— their arming code are practically held by US forces but still there is ample chance that Terrorist may raid some nuclear bunkers of Pakistan and may run away with nuclear bomb in order to explode it and the entire western society will be effaced.

What a concoction——–the man is trying to pin up to under mine the successes of Pak army; sadly he is bit late. Isn’t he?
This is called———- Basee Karri main ubaal—!

  9. I have read the article of Seymour and found major flaws and discrepencies and those flaws were so basic that you doubt the intentions of the writer as how can a person of such a stature could make such basic mistakes.

    1. He said that a General been killed by terrorist and somehow he knows that elements within army informed terrorists of General’s route. Well the officer died wasnt a General he was a Brigadier. In a city like Rawalpindi there are hundreds of serving brigadiers living ordinary lives as army GHQ is in rawalpindi. And you dont need elements in army to help you to find a route between a brigadier’s office and his home and most brigadiers in rawalpindi live in mixed population rather than pure fortified cantoanments.

    2. He also said that last time when he visited pakistan he was served with liqour where he went this time officials particularly retired ones offered him just juice. He says the growing fundamentalism is behind this change lollllzzzzzzzzzzzz. Well Sir Seymour liquour is illegal in Pakistan as a matter of law rather than religion. I think if this time people just serve you juice that mean people are becoming more law abiding. I think you should be arrested on arrival in pakistan next time for alcohol consumption as you already have confessed having it in a country where it is illegal. Secondly alcohol is not widely available in pakistan as a grocery item and so very expensive and inflation is a big problem nowadays and retired officials you met probaly cant afford it any more.

    3. You have mentioned that there is growing fundamentalism is Pakistan army. Sir please dont mix nationalism with fundamentalism. Its nationalism not fundamentalism which is cause of widespread anit-americanism in Pakistan. People now realizing how americans played evil games with pakistan and used it as a tissue paper in past present to advance its own anti-world and anti-human selfish agenda known as new world order a new type of slavery of many by so few. We like most third world countries we dont have a stake in it hence dont support it and consider it merely a white domination of world. New world order is nothing but racist where traditional world players will further tighten their grip on us. People like seymour are instruments of this ideology as he is among the people of background with largest stake in this proposed and partly implemented system.

    4. He is also suggested that elements within army will acquire control of our nukes and change direction. In other words he is saying that Israel is in threat due to our nuclear program. I think by saying so I suspect that he is suffering from parnoia and may be perhaps schizophrenia. He better get himself checked up. The motives behind our nuclear program are crystal clear.

    5. He said that the Pakistanis gave some info about their nuclear program to americans, I ask him does he really believe that info to be correct.

    6. If the west is really uncomfortable about our nuclear program then why dont it forces india to give independence to kashmiris, so in this way obtainig a moral ground to ask pakistan to abort its nuclear program as pakistan might not need it anymore. Since west is not currently pursuing this route our doubts about west are not irrational.

  10. Before criticizing Seymour M. Herch first see his extraordinary and very impressive investigating reporting on following issues

-Hersh broke the story of the My Lai Massacre, in which hundreds of unarmed Vietnamese civilians were murdered by US soldiers in March 1968. The report prompted widespread condemnation around the world and reduced public support for the Vietnam War in the United States. The explosive news of the massacre fueled the outrage of the US peace movement, which demanded the withdrawal of US troops from Vietnam.
-August 2006, in an article in The New Yorker, Hersh claimed that the White House gave the green light for Israel to plan and execute an attack on the mounting threat of Hezbollah in Lebanon
-On August 20, 1998, Hersh strongly criticized the destruction of the Al-Shifa pharmaceutical factory, the largest pharmaceutical factory in Sudan—providing about half the medicines produced in Sudan—by United States cruise missiles during Bill Clinton’s president/

-His 2004 reports on the US military’s mistreatment of detainees at Abu Ghraib prison gained much attention

-In 2006 he reported on the US military’s plans for Iran, which allegedly called for the use of nuclear weapons against that country.
Now he in his line of professionalism gave such report on Pakistani issues.
He is Lithuanian Jew but his work stands for Muslims mainly who are affecting by US war games.
So we have to give him respect and worth which he deserves, much above then muslim leadership who always put their heads under the sand when anything happened to Muslim community under their regime via US route.

  11. Hi Kam,
comment 9 col 6. Once Kashmir gets independence, you give away your nukes.correct? By the way Hersh is not talking about some Taliban getting hold of Pakistani nukes. He is talking about some one like Islamic General Zia taking over Pakistan with its nukes or a Civilian like hafeez Saeed.

  12. **
Probably the most disturbing aspect of the piece in the long article of Seymour Hersh quoted in the post above and is also the most threatening when he describes that what are the US plans for Pakistan’s nukes?

That is what the present turmoil in pakistan and US game may be all about - a unilateral US plan to have a US own potent force in Pakistan to attempt to take out the nuclear triggers which are normally kept away from nukes for security reason and thereby decapitate the nukes.

Is that why we are seeing so many covert US personnel arriving in batches into Pakistan? There may be no formal deal with Pakistani government; but there is a threatening unilateral US agenda. That Hersh has explained in his article most vividly!

  13. The West’s lost sleep for Pakistan’s nuclear program isn’t a new thing. Since decades it has been bothering them, rightly or wrongly. The most interesting thing is that the flag-bearer of this pack is the US, the sole nuke trigger-happy power, who didn’t waste even minutes to decide about loosing nukes over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Fantasies have no ethics. Dream whatever you feel like. It’s a no hold barred game but how about kettle’s looking at her ugly black base before calling the pot a black? The only blame Pak nuclear program carries is alleged trading by Dr AQ Khan, though no one has been able to prove it so far and its all hear saying going around. What Seymour Hersh says shouldn’t be worrying anyone as he being a neutral analyst reserves the right to say whatever he feels like, may that we like or dislike but the real worrying and troublesome part is the shouts by the Brutus like Hoodbhoy, an illegitimate of the Westerns.
Have ever the Americans bothered to look under their carpet? Do they know their nuclear accidents history, actually starting from 1945, but in case the Hiroshima and Nagasaki holocausts are not taken as accidents then from 1961 until now almost a dozen of incidents have taken place every year. People haven’t forgotten the January 1961’s maiden explosion at reactor Idaho Falls (USA) which took at least three persons lives. What do you say about the tragedy which took place about forty years back, in January 1969, when USS Enterprise, the nuclear aircraft-carrier, suffered fires and explosions, killing 28 crew members. No mention of B-52 aircrafts accidents, carrying nuclear bombs, which were more than dozen. Those who showed concern for alleged missing Paki nuke arsenal should not forget that what happened on March 11, 1958 when a B-47 plane lost a nuclear bomb in South Carolina. Instead of sweating pointlessly for the world’s most safest nuclear systems (Pakistan) why don’t these clowns and freaks do something about the most perilous nuclear installations of the world located in India, where on 1st Jan 1992, four tons of heavy water was spilt at Rajasthan nuclear power plant, where on 13th May, 1992, tube leak caused a radioactive release of 12 Curies of radioactivity from Tarapur nuclear power station, where two to three tons of heavy water leaked out of an atomic reactor in western India on August 5, 1981 and one of the power plant’s units was shut down, where every second day some nuclear scientist go missing to defect. So please don’t bother about Pakistan. Just pay a little heed to Seymour Hersh who has conveyed you between the lines that Pakistanis are very possessive about their nuclear belongings and would not tell you the truth. On one hand Obama, the Gorbachov of the USA is reverting to the civilisation while on the other hand his egoistic teammates are still behaving stubbornly. They are advised not to be a poor sport. Pak nuke arsenals are the sour grapes for them so the better option is just to forget about them.
