Pakistan Army : We Stand With You
By Brig. (r) Junaid Zaman • Jul 14th, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 24 CommentsFirst, let me make something very crystal clear. Despite of decaying Musharraf’s shenanigans, the chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani remains the soldier he is, and he doesn’t want to rollback the democratic system, and he wants politicians to be at the helm of the affairs and run the country. General Ashfaq is wholly immersed in ensuring the security and safety of the Pakistan.
That and Pakistan Army is fully awake and very alert and assessing and analyzing the rapidly growing alarming situation at our Western borders and threats to the country from within, like they are surfacing in the Hangu area. Such flash points are being tackled down very professionally by the security forces despite of the loss of life and property.
Where United States has decided to wage a war in the FATA area, the Pakistani security forces have also devised their strategy. All the supplies to the NATO and US forces go through the Pakistan all the way from Karachi port through G.T Road up to the Peshawar (which makes a distance of thousands of kilometers) and then enters the Afghanistan. US cannot afford suspension of these supplies, and that would be one of the powerful leverage in the hands of the Pakistani forces to leash the US forces.
Moreover, Pakistan could resume the support to Taliban in Afghanistan and could engage US and NATO forces pretty severely in the central and Northern Afghanistan. The attack of US on the tribal belt would certainly unite the different factions of Talibans, and then Pakistan could facilitate the militant coalition of Mangal Bagh, Maulana Fazlullah, Haji Namdar, Qazi Mehboob and Baitullah Mehsud against the US onslaught. This would give Pakistani government dual benefit of getting rid of the militants from their areas, while giving US a tough time in their yet another misadventure.
When US attack, Pakistan must not go against the Taliban, because then instead of striking at US, Talibans would start suiciding in the Pakistani cities, and then it would be an impossible situation for Pakistani forces to handle, and they would be hapless in front of the US led NATO forces.
And what should be done to the continuous violation by US aircrafts of Pakistani aerial space? Despite a strong protest lodged by Pakistan with the US-led Nato forces in Afghanistan over attack on the border town of Angoor Adda, a US fighter aircraft and pilotless spy planes again intruded into Pakistan’s airspace in Bajaur, and North and South Waziristan tribal agencies. And this practice has become a daily routine.
Demolishing couple of planes would do a loads of good to calm the itchy and aggressive nerves of the US, and that would teach them that Pakistan is not their Banana republic, and while Yousuf Raza Gillani, our puppet Prime Minister puked in front of Michael Mullen of US, the images of drones’ wreck would speak themselves.

pretty aggressive, but comes right from the heart of a patriot.
These are stirring times along the border, the intense excitement that prevail in tribal belt is heralding an imminent danger.
Whether you hate or love Musharraf, regardless of that, support our troops.
We have to shed our quasi-meaningless life and unite, and unite fast. Time is running out.
Jaag Utha Hai Sara Watan, Mojahido, Sipahiyo
A watan kay sajeelay jawano, meray nughmay tumharay liya hien
My husband gave his humble life to this great nation, and now I am ready to die for this country with my five kids and every little thing I have.
Pakistan Zindabad.
Mohtarma Abida, you are greater than life.
Abida Begum, after sacrificing what you already have and which hopefully we as a nation always must remeber and never ever forget. Your message to us all must be to learn to live in unity for Pakistan and make its enemies die for their cause whoever they are and whatever they cause might be. May you and children live to enjoy the fruits of your Shaheed husbands sacrifice; may all our Shaheeds know that their sacrifices did not go waste.
“…the militant coalition of Mangal Bagh, Maulana Fazlullah, Haji Namdar, Qazi Mehboob and Baitullah Mehsud ………” They all have to be destroyed without one single exception, period. We should do it ourselves if we can, otherwise join the forces which help us destroy these scorpion.
And what about correcting the General Zia’s biggest mistake i.e. MQM?
In the next round perhaps?
TT pistol culture and the Bhatta system of the jackals must end now, for the sake of Karachi’s peace. No?
Thanks all of you for the kind and much needed words. Aftab, before destroying all of them, a comprehensive dialogue coupled with show of power should be used. This cabbage still believes this
Ahmed, that is exactly what is not needed at all.If MQM or anyother outfit is engaged in such activities, then it’s petty in front of the challenges we face today at our borders.
Junaid Bhai Sahib, first lets forget that ‘cabbage’ bit. It is just one of those outbursts that reflect lesser motals reaction. Now, I am not a military strategist and obviously civilians usually, by temperament, consider dialogue the best option. This bit you will agree with me that any dialogues andall negotiations by defination between two equals, if it is so, then how can you start granting such an status to those who are self declared and confessed and proved “coalition” of millitants. In my opinion, all such mutineers must first accept the State as the superior force (the one with legal and moral authority) in the affirs of this country. Of course, what could be better course and better aspiration for us.
And if either of us was a ‘cabbage’, he would be doing anything but worry about our and our children’s futures.
Kindest.
We are still ONE…. I am proud of it. Still we have life to fight back. First time in last few years, I read in news paper that our Military force have given clear signal back to US and NATO forces that if you will again violate our borders and air limits then we will respond accordingly. They said that we are fighting for you in FATA and you are throwing bombs on our soldiers and civilians to demoralize them. I got news that soldiers clearly told their officers that if again US/NATO will violate borders then we will fire back without you orders even.
Last days I was talking to my very close friend in GHQ. He told that Saleem don’t worry, we are 110% equipped and only your moral support is required to defend our borders. He is very positive indeed. Who ever is attacking on Pakistanis is not our friend…whether he claims to be very close to us.
Pakistan Zindabad. We are one and will remain one.
Respected Aftab, sure no hard feelings. If somebody is kind enough to spend his/her precious time reading my humble words, then he has every right to say whatever he/she feels about it.
Taliban believe that they are equal to the state, and I have been to all of seven agencies in the last couple of months, and I can tell you that their is no government there, and in those agencies our Pakistani government is not equal to the Taliban “government”, and it’s also the fault of ours, as we always considered the area “Ilaqa Ghair”.
Using Taliban against U.S.A by PAKISTAN will be equal to using TALIBAN against Russia and of course will lead to similar situation and will strengthen Taliban hold in those regions and may be further….Does govt. has any clear strategy about Talibans? How strange that each time they occupy some Police Station and Govt has nothing to do but dialogue to get back its hold..What is this?? U.S.A attacks on FATA are not that important as Govt’s hold of this region…We can fight back U.S.A but not these Talibans because they have nothing but to start suicide attacks in other areas of PAKISTAN..
So many patriots ready to die for your country. Please see and visit Saudi arabia and Dubai and Kuwait(after war) and can anyone in pakistan from Islamabad, or karachi ,lahore can visit FATA or Swat or south wazirstan in peace? Somany Taliban died for liberating Afghanistan from russia, now they are liberating it from USA. Atleast Taliban are honest to their ideology and have been fighting socalled infidels, idol worshippers and even idols like bamiyan Budhdhas. pakistanies continue to get dollars from USA for Pakistan army but will sabotage its operations in afghanistan. What logic is it? The Afghan taliban and Pakistan taliban are same and so allow them to kill americans but let american donot retaliate inside pakistan but kill only in Afghanistan. What is this logic?
Mr. Johann,
You seems unaware of real plans behind this so called war against terrorism. Do you think that they have cleaned whole Afghanistan from these Al Qaida or Talibans? If not then they should first clean Afghanistan and then think about Pakistan. If they have given responsibility to Pakistan Army then let them do their work.
Their urgency to attack inside Pakistan shows that their target is some thing else. Not Taliban or Al Qaida. Do you think that Indians, Israelis, Afghanis etc are sincere to Pakistan. They are trying to raise excuses so USA/NATO can proceed with Attack on Pakistan. Tajick Afghanis are not sincere with Pakistan since first day and this bloody chap “Karazi” is one of them. He don’t have even courage to come out of Kabul but threatening Pakistan. “Yeh Piddi aur Piddi ka shorba”. Pakistan is not a candy that any country will eat it in a minute. Pakistan if has survived in front of such a big country then it can survive in future also. It will remain a wish for our enemies only.
I tell you, I visited these FATA areas many times and never found any problem from their side. Taliban and FATA are entirely different things. Taliban is mostly present in Int’l Media instead of in FATA.
Brig. Zaman Sahab, Bhai! that’s the main issue here. Taliban must realize or must be made to see the reallity as it is. Yes, indeed, as you narrate from your first hand experience that government is not visible there and seems to have diminished its authority and power. You are right here also that it is our fault. What makes me angry and despair is this situation; and that’s where I have often been less than civil in retorting your stand. For some reason I am, sadly, of the opinion that you and many in your position have contributed to this situation by your statements in the past. You see, when someone like me says something regarding our military and its (lets call it) shortcomings, it carries lot less weight as compare to a person of your sature and experience in such matters. After all, it takes lots of talents to make it it to a rank of a Brigadier and it is no mean a position to sneeze at. When you comment on our military it is from a man of knowledge and must be heeded and people do take notice including the millitants and anti state elements and fell tempted to test our resolve.
Treating a part of your country as “Illaqa Ghair” has always been an enigma to my limited sense of nationhood. I do consider it a big mistake by our fathers; seems as if fathers’ sins are coming to haunt us.
Your are kind and generous and do forgive my harsh language targetting your person.
CORRECTION: Please, read above : You see, …….compare to a person of your STATURE and experience in such matters.
