No Space for Terrorism

By Dr. Hassan Isfahani • Nov 15th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 5 Comments

When President Asif Ali Zardari took over, he also made some promises to the hapless people of Pakistan. He pledged to undo the dictatorship and he pledged to promote democracy and peace. But. Time is eating his presidency. But so far not a single promise is fulfilled. Actually, he is busy enjoying his status. He has no time for bothering about his promises. The promises are looking wistfully at the president, and president is not serious about the promises.

While President is bunkered in the presidency and thinking ferociously about his NRO and his immense wealth and his rule, the security forces are making their headway in the restive Waziristan agency and the nationĀ  back them. The terrorism is on the run, and the nation supports their troops to wipe out the terrorism once and for all.

A majority of Pakistanis support military action against militants although more people blame the United States for the violence than blame the Taliban. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani is the hero, undisputedly and he enjoys the blessings of the nation.

Go on our troops, kill these beasts.

  1. Dr Hassan is looking like the part of establishment campaign which they take before toppling of govt.
Before praising Kiyani remember he is the same man or part of team who made and passed this NRO to one of corrupt, disputed and third rated character of Pakistan.
For what purpose surely giving him clear way to share the govt with military people.
The accord between military generals and runaway politicians is it self explanatory that what were they planning for.Cactus and roses have completely different visible identification marks but these tricky men cover cactus with NRO robe and put coaltar on roses to show the world and ordinary Pakistanis that they are doing all for national Interests.
I never consider zardari as high rated criminal .The people who gave him way to this indemnified and dignified seat are more criminal minded than him. They are trying to misuse the real sanctity and legal position of President in our prevailing legal system.
He is just doing what he is popular for completely as per expectations based on past experience.

  2. What’s new or different about this article?

  3. Training of journalists, there is a need for training. They need to prioritize their stories as the media is very influential in the world today. The NRO- Zardari/Altaf issue is not even half as important as the 34 innocent lives lost in the blast in Rawalpindi on the 3rd of November. However the media had managed to shift the focus very conveniently.

  4. Zardari seems to be an issue of focus in the media now days. How can the media be acting so irresponsibly when there are constant suicide bomb blasts occurring in Peshawar? Either its Zardari making the headlines or the Sugar crisis, the media needs to prioritize the focus on reports.

It has been noted in a survey by the Gillani Foundation that 57% of the population agrees to the fact that it has been the media which has been responsible for the political instability in the country.

  5. I totally agree with Murtaza Hasaan
The media should act more responsibly and not prioritize the sugar shortage crisis over the terrorist activities going around the country today. Peshawar has had 5 blasts in the last 8 days, why is the main focus not on that issue? Maybe the media should look more into on how their responsibilities lie?
