This is the slogan Aitezaz Ahsan, the President of of Supreme Court Bar Association, has given to his call on 9th March, 2008. According to Aitezaz Ahsan, on this day, from Karachi to Khyber and from Quetta to Lahore, lawyers will rock the bastions of those who have curbed the judiciary from 9th March, 2007.

9th March, 2007 is a very crucial day in Pakistan’s history. This is the day which turned the tide against President Musharraf, when he deposed the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary. This sparked an anger in the otherwise apathetic Pakistani nation, and the lawyers throughout country started protesting against this act of dictatorship.

Soon they were joined by the civil activist and due to the media, especially the electronic media such as GEO, ARYONEWORLD, AAJ, DAWN News did much to inform media, and now even a common villager knows that our CJP was deposed and it was wrong, and now a common Pakistani appreciates the importance of free judiciary, free media and a true democracy.

It’s good that Aitezaz is preferring his principles over his party, and his party has gained majority in center and province, even then he is mounting pressure on the new setup to do some thing concrete and quick about the restoration of judiciary.

So, we are looking forwards to wards 9 March Long March.
