No Euphoria in Masses After Passing of 18th Amendment

By Ali Yar Khan • Apr 11th, 2010 • Category: Politics • 2 Comments

May be those prisoners would be happy who got their punishment tenure cut down by the bounty announced for them by the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on the occassion of passing of 18th amendment, but the overall scenario is of gloom and doom. Even those prisoners would have second thoughts of going outside of the jail to face joblessness, poverty and price hike, which will perhaps compel them again to commit some crime to earn and eventually go back to the jail.

Until and unless the fruits of 18th amendment don’t reach to the grass root level, it would remain a game of vested interest for the common people. If the people keep suffering from loadshedding, hunger, law and order, joblessness, no business and no justice, then 18th amendment and all those rosy pictures would remain meaningless.

People are even openly saying that this amendment has only fulfilled the egos and vested interests of the parties and personalities. For example, ANP has got the name change of province and Nawaz Sharif can now become Prime Minister. President Zardari’s powers are cut down and now the premier is stronger than ever.

But what the common people have achieved.

  1. I think blogger has wrongly bridged between enactment of laws and ever increasing dearness and crime ratios. There are other institutions for controlling these maladies, and of course government is the one that holds all the responsibilities. Enforcing the spirit of laws is the combined responsibility of Administration, Judiciary and not to forget the Media. Deviation from this network makes the laws on papers only.

  2. “But what the common people have achieved”

A lot more “Load Shedding”, No Water,Inflation, Joblessness——-Pervaiz Ashraf, Rehman Malik, Jamshed Dasti—————-So many achievements what are you whining for?
