Neocon’s Pakistan

There interests and stakes are so high in this region, that they have to micro manage the affairs in this semi-banana republic.
Power of rule is a very deceptive thing. A politician is a quite different animal when out of power and quite a different when in the power. Leaders talk something different when they are in the opposition and tying to topple the government, and then they talk quite differently when in the power. As soon as the get the top hot seat, they begin to see the same old things in the different light.
Pakistan’s political history is littered with myriad number of examples in which politicians change their gears as soon as they get into the power. This is regardless of the military or the civilian leaders. From Bhutto to Zia to Nawaz to Benazir to Musharraf to Zardari, everyone has shown the same attitude.
Right now, we are experiencing the similar and the same old attitude by Mr. Zardari. It was this Pakistan People’s Party who remained at the front row when in opposition in the processions of Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary, and now when they are in power, they are finding all kinds of delaying pretexts to not to restore the same chief justice. They were very bitter enemy of Musharraf when in opposition, and now they consider it pertinent to have a working relationship with the same man, because he has become an asset for them and a sellable commodity who could be financially beneficial for them.
