Nawaz Sharif not in by-elections

Mian Nawaz Sharif, the chief of PML-N has left the battle to prepare for the upcoming war. He has told the PML-N’s central working committee about his decision on Friday when it met to discuss the situation after the Dubai talks between PPP and PML-N leaders.

Though as a last effort to save the PDA coalition Nawaz Sharif gave impression that the Dubai marathon talks were successful, the matter was that Asif Ali Zardari was still sticking to the minus-two formula and Zardari wanted to have Abdul Hameed Dogar as the chief justice of Pakistan. In the last Zardari has partially agreed to reinstate all the judges including Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary, but on the condition that even then Mr. Justice Dogar would be the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

As that stance of PPP negates the very soul of the Bhurban Declaration, and it really beats the very purpose of the lawyers movement and all that struggle against the acts of Musharraf against judiciary, PML-N sees little hope in fulfilling the May 12 deadline for the reinstatement of judiciary, and he has told his party to start preparing for getting out of the government.

Though PML-N would keep on supporting the PPP government, but it would walk out of the ministries and some circles are hinting that they could also leave the Punjab government. PML-N intends to focus more on reorganization of the party on new grounds. For this they need to work across Pakistan, especially in the other three provinces than Punjab.

The heading of the blog “Nawaz Sharif not in by-elections”. I would say this is the best news since Feb 18th elections. :-)

I would have liked him to contest and loose in a very democratic manner. Perhaps that would bring the message home to him that he is not what he makes himself believe in his fantasy world.
