National Interests at Stack as the Deadline Ends

By Farid Masood • May 12th, 2008 • Category: Politics • 5 Comments •

Today, the 12th May was the re-scheduled dead line to re-instate the deposed judiciary including the reinstatement of Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. The ruling coalition failed to achieve 1st milestone and to deliver its progress to the nations of its five years plan.

Both the parties won the elections on the mandate, which was against the President Musharraf and his allied political forces. After February 18th when the elected MNAs and MPAs started their mass contact they were fed back by the workers of both the parties PPP and PML(N) that nation want the deposed judiciary to be re-instated to its Nov 2nd position as early as possible. But the matter was taken by PPP as a casual one and used delaying tactics to reduce the pressure of masses, which are suffering badly from economic and price hikes pressures.

The time is over now, Meeting of PML(N) parliamentary committee is being held today to discuss their stand point to leave ministries to defend their stance. This is more likely decision to be taken today, a respectable withdrawal.

Now the question comes out, whether the coalition will break or not. Mr Asif Ali Zardari proved himself an instrument to present and international forces while dealing this issue. He just wanted a government in the center which was very easy and respectable one if PML(N) joins him in coalition. Because PML(Q) was the losing party and nation would have slammed Zardari if he had directly gone for a coalition with this party before forming government.

If PML(N) leave the coalition then two possibilities are their, number one: Zardari might now go for a coalition with PML(Q) if its top leadership is toppled including the deserters of PML(Q) (the forward block); number two: they will think about to dissolve the national assembly.

Both the above cases will surely lead to political unrest in the country and both the event shall give a chance the American puppets to be more strengthen. The need of the hour is that PML(N) must not leave the coalition they should just leave the ministries as they announced much earlier. On many issues Mr Zardari will need support from PML(N) in future then the time shall come to tell him the legislative pros and cons of each issue.

PPP shall not be able to financial matters of this country as they don’t posses strong financial teams of experts. PML(N) to be more strengthen should talk about other matters of national interests like Dr A.Q. Khan’s issue, missing persons issue, corruption issues of ex-central government. It must get some direct support from ANP also. Try to avoid the dissolution of national assembly as it shall give a chance to establishment to give PPP a clean sweep or a 60-40 proportion of national assembly seats if election held again in year 2008. PML(N) must also work hard to get its roots deep in Sindh and ask its allied parties to get deep rooted in Balouchistan also for the next elections if held earlier than 2013.

Coming back to current issues, if this coalition exists longer than establishment’s planning this shall have far reaching effects on national status. Zardari has to come to PML(N) for the vetting of many issues which have given him personal benefits. We opposed the direct links of Makhdoom Amin Faheem with the establishment and Presidency in early days after election and Zardari ousted him due to that. What was his fault then?

Pakistan Peoples Party has been unable to present its constitutional package to re-instate deposed judiciary.

The nation has learnt that how elected political leaders give respect to their mandate this is a biggest question mark on the current and future performance of Pakistan Peoples Party.

  4. should talk about other matters of national interests like Dr A.Q. Khan’s issue, missing persons issue, corruption issues of ex-central government. It must get some direct support from ANP also. This is decent approach

  5. For God sake leave Dr AQ KHAN in peace. He is living comfortably, the facilities he enjoys are just fine. Most of the Pakistani masses will consider themselves very lucky if provided his wealth and luxuries and Pakistan will be considered a prosperous country. Just leave to that for now.
