My Country

A green piece of land

full of resources

fertile as a maiden

sitting like a lion on the world map

a lovely gift of God

ancestors left it early

guiding lights were not followed

personal supercede national

we want astray

in search of easy things

spring has gone

winter has arrived

looking for the livelihood

we didn’t put side

planning scarce

execution scarce

intruders have come

days are black

nights are flashy

who will pull it out

no one in the scene

no to stand firm

like a shade in high noon

mothers need to do it

from children to lads

fathers need to supervise

a nation’s frame work needed

an altered attitude required

a strong will will do it

done it wrong

correction required

actions than words

to sail towards silent waters

  1. MR. FARID ,

    A very good poem you have written.

    i would like to share a poem with all my pakistani friends abt NATION BUILDING…………………as visualised by RABINDRANATH TAGORE………

    Where the mind is without fear
    By Rabindranath Tagore

    Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
    Where knowledge is free;
    Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic wars;
    Where words come out from the depth of truth;
    Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
    Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
    Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action -
    Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

    Anyway how was my first poem?

  12. Farid Sahib, the poem is nice, being the first fruit of your efforts, and the sentiments it represents are great. I envy your abilities and consistencies, keep up the good work. Frankly, I wish I could do something as nice as this!

    Just an idea for your consideration. You should not be, too, concernd about applause. Putting together your ideas so nicely and so poetically is itself a great, great achievement and you must celeberate it, it is its own reward.

    Again, keep up the good work!

    thanks alot, a presenter may want applause, but if it is not there, one cannot stop writing.

    regards
