Musharraf Shouldnt Have Done That Too
By Ghazala Khan • Jan 23rd, 2008 • Category: Pakistan Vote'08, Politics • 3 Comments •Every time our President Generalissimo (r) Pervez Musharraf tells ‘others’ that they shouldn’t be so “obsessed” with the democracy and human rights in Pakistan, I feel as if someone has stabbed a knife into my already bleeding heart.
Are we that low? Are we sub-human? Why cannot we have the democracy, free media, free judiciary, our basic human rights like the other human beings of this planet? Why can’t we have the right to elect our own leaders, and why don’t we are insulted in that fashion at the world’s forums?
At one side, Mr. Musharraf said during his Euro tour that he wanted to remove “misunderstandings and misperceptions” about the situation in Pakistan, and how in the world he thinks that by decrying Europe to not to think anything of our dismal democratic plight, he would build a rosy case for Pakistan?
President Musharraf also denounced former Chief Justice of Pakistan (for many the still CJP) Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary as “inept and corrupt” man who was working to “incapacitate” the government and the parliament. Was it necessary to say that among ‘others’?
These kinds of visits, and so-called image-improving speeches never have brought anything to Pakistan and they never will. If we just put our house in order, then the world will know itself, what we are all about. Ordering in the house can only be done through free and fair elections.

I agree with you Ghazala! It is a sad fact that we try to copy all the evils from the West but we cant copy their good things. Even our President thinks that we dont deserve democracy and freedom. What a national shame it is!
Sorry to say this but….as they say..
“One gets what he deserves…”
It is the time to be alert from Pakistan enemies, to be vigilant, to pay attention to our moral and national responsibilities, to stop finger pointing on government, political and religious parties, to protect our country from the ongoing bomb blast by militants, to act as community policeman, to be united as one nation, to protect our nuclear assets by all means, to our political and religious leaders stop blaming government for all this unrest in the country instead help President Musharraf in this time of national crisis, it is time to think Pakistan first, it is time to explore peace and unity in the country, it is time to leave our differences behind for the sake of our country-Pakistan, it is time don’t ask what Pakistan can do for you…it is time to ask yourself what you can do for Pakistan.
