Mobilink Lucky Draws
By The Pakistani Spectator • Dec 7th, 2007 • Category: Uncategorized • 3 Comments •A few days back I happened to go back to my village. During the second day of my visit; when I got pass the road I saw a gathering of seven or eight people. When I got there I saw a driver of local van weeping. On my asking somebody (was a shop keeper) told me that this person (driver) got a phone call from someone; who promised him for a reward of 1 million if he can send him credit cards of 2000 rupees. According to that person he belonged to Mobilink. Without any hesitation the driver gave him all he asked and then the person disappeared. His phone number is in no body’s use now.
When Mobilink announced that it is offering its Jazz customers the facility to share their balances then two or three days after that I received a message that if you dial this code then your balance will get double in the celebration of Jazz birthday. Trust me there are very organized. As being associated with telecom sector myself, we came across incidents in which they had proper IVR systems to loot our countrymen.
Although, PTA is no doubt one of the best telecom regulator in the region but still they havent taken any concrete steps to curb this practise.
I think a proper investigation should be launched into it as enough complaints have been registered with the cellular operators as well as with the regulator. Lastly, i am sure it wont be a problem to catch the culprits for we all know how easily things can be tracked especially in GSM cases.
I appreciate the author of this blog for highlighting the problem
Warid is getting the same issues as well, an employee of mine had someone call them and promise a sum of rs 1 million if they could credit 1500 rs to their account. As soon as the money was rcvd the number was shut off. Hi tech thieves….we have them in all varieties.
I agree faisal. I think our subscribers should also do a little bit of due diligence before believing anything.
Although i can understand the organized way in which this crime is done but still i think with just one call to the helpline, our subscribers can clarify it.
Plus majority of us are aware of this phenomena so we should try our level best to spread the word so that no one is looted in future.
