Mobile Shops & Police

By The Pakistani Spectator • May 29th, 2007 • Category: Uncategorized • 6 Comments •

It is reported that in Taxila and Wah police raids on the mobile phone shops, put all the sets displayed in a bag and take the shop keeper with them. This practices has become very common now a days and shop keepers are getting loss due to this activity.

This might be the same case with others cities. Why police do so they can reply?

We know that mobile snatching practice is on the up now a days. One of my friend, a young officer of Merchant Navy, was murdered in Lahore during this activity as he did not resisted even.

Such acts of police will surely not reduce the street robberies, why because:

1. Normally mobile snatchers do not come to mobile shop to sale the mobile, they have there own network.

2. Mobile shop keeper ask for the box of mobile phone & warranty card (also if expired) to ensure that set is not stolen or snatched.

I am not trying to advocate the innocence of the mobile shop keepers. Some may be involved in selling stolen sets. But this activity of police has no justification, is it doing on any court order, if so then it is justified. And they should show the order to the concerned persons also.

If police uses some sort of technological support to identify the stolen set or have discovered any modern technology that tells that this set was stolen, then it should share it with the authorities so that the business of mobile snatching could be curbed down.

To disturb the common man is not the duty of police, if they are unable to stop robberies they should look into improving their performance and systems.

  1. police is doing what is expected of it.

  2. It seems that you havent had your mobile phone snatched from you. If that would be the case, you woudnt really oppose this action.

  3. These mobile shop keepers are not that innocent.

They have link with the thieves and they buy expensive stolen mobile sets on prices of peanuts and then earn huge profits.

Welldone Police, this should also be done in my city Lahore, as the situation is really worse here.

  4. When Mobile companies cant implement any technology to curb the mobile phone snatching,

how do you expect police do it?

    Ridiculous.

  5. Police should tight the security in the streets to stop street crimes, instead of harrassing legitimate citizens.
