Mobile Polling Stations

By Farid Masood • Feb 9th, 2008 • Category: Pakistan Vote'08, Politics • No Responses •

This is in opposition to my earlier post the Attracting Voters to Polling Stations . Now the idea behind is to facilitate old aged voters who have hard times to reach the polling stations even they are picked up by shuttle buses of the contesting candidates.

Election commission had not given any attention to the voters who are too old to walk. For this the authority may make some mobile polling stations for reach upto the far located villages in all four provinces and FATA area for an effort to increase the turn out.

As the February 18th is an announced holiday and the armour vehicle used to transport currency by the banks could be used for this purpose alongwith security staff and far located villages could be attended.

There are many constituencies (like thar etc) from where results are announced two or three days after the polling day as polling staff returns on camels as no other means of transportation are available and this may also help to collect votes of old age people who cannot visit polling station

Hope during the next elections Election Commission may look into this idea seriously.
