Meatless Days
By Farid Masood • Jun 25th, 2008 • Category: Misc • 4 Comments •Son asked his father, “Papa why butchers’ shops are closed two days a week”, father replied, ”dear son to give a break to meat consumption”. Son asked “ Papa does it really work”, father “yes my dear it help in this way”.
Son, aware of the prevailing crises, went into deep chasm of thoughts and after a while rose-up from that state and asked his father again, “Papa if it really works then why don’t we apply this strategy to other consumables like we may celebrate fuel-less days per week, it will help us to overcome fuel crises, we can break it up like that, Monday as diesel-less day (for transport), Friday as petrol-less day, Sunday as CNG-less day”.
Son coming to food items, “Wednesday as wheat-less day, Thursday as riceless-day, Tuesday as Oil/Ghee-less day, Monday as sugar-less day, Friday baked-food-less day, Saturday veges-less day”.
WAPDA is already celebrating electric-power-less days then why not a day as Tax-less by CBR”.
Upon this reply from son father was thinking that his son may become a renowned economist in near future, his son’s voice broke his series of thoughts. “There should also be three days as education-less days a week”.
But son conveyed his message that Papa you haven’t planned, executed and monitored governance in the right direction selflessly our future could have been much better than our present. If we don’t put-in our sincere efforts the coming days could be everything less days.
