Long March of Lawyers in Pakistan

Long march has just started from two main cities of Pakistan, Karachi (Sindh Province) and Quetta (Balouchistan Province). From Karachi lawyers on buses, coaches and cars shall reach Hyderabad (second largest city of Sindh) and a group will join the incoming lawyers. It will then reach Sukkur city and wait for the groups of lawyers coming from Quetta through Sibbi, Dera Murad Jamali, Dera Allah Yar. From Sukkur they shall join and come towards Punjab through Sadiqabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and Multan.

Multan is a gathering point for all bunches of lawyers coming from two provinces and southern Punjab. From Multan the gathering shall march towards Lahore via Khanewal & Okara. Lawyers coming from other parts of Punjab shall join in Lahore and in Rawalpindi. Lawyers coming from NWFP shall join the rest in Rawalpindi.

Date to reach Rawalpindi is June 12th, Pakistan Peoples Party has also announced to participate in long march of lawyers. Lawyers groups belonging to PPP have already announced to participate in this march. Therefore, Rehman Malik has announced the participation of PPP just to remain alive in the politics because on the other hand PPP is under-hand supporting President Musharraf.

Participation of PML(N), PTI, JI, ex-servicemen group, ex-secretaries and other parties of PDF has announced their presence in the long march. General Public unable to join the long march may participate by giving away water bottles. There are many other ways to support the lawyers in their noble cause to re-instate the rule of law.

This shall be a test case for the leadership of lawyers community that how they deliver as they already had announced that they shall not leave Constitutional Avenue until the change is made (Judges are re-instated on Nov 2nd Position).

Let’s see how the authorities resist and digest this mega event in the history of Pakistan.

  1. The fresh indicators are frustrating after Bush has again reiterated its support for Mush. Zardari has lost its credibility after reneging on his words at two occasions. I put my fingers crossed insoafaras the restoration of judges is concerned. Still we salute the valiant struggle of the Lawyers.

  5. You know what, Nawaz’s coming back and joining it will amount to adding another zero to so many already there. It will look like this: 0+………0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 +……..+0 = 0
