Long March Changed Political Dynamics

By Rohail Butt • Jun 20th, 2008 • Category: Politics • One Response •

Pakistani politics is an exquisite amalgamation of the unlimited possibilities and bizarre chances. The recent long march of lawyers is an unprecedented gathering in the Pakistan, especially in the Islamabad, that it changed the way we used to expect the outcome of the protest-oriented gatherings.

This long march establishment many new trends and erected many new pillars on which the future of politics would be built and cemented. This long march has strengthened the democracy and has provided yet another proof of the maturity of this nation, which fought for its independence and got this country through political maturity of the leaders and not through the charity or global shenanigans.

In that country, the long march of the lawyers for the restoration of the judiciary, supremacy of the constitution and the ouster of Pervez Musharraf has met with astounding success which is reverberating from Karachi to Khyber, and which is here to stay to steer the ship of democracy to the brink of new dawn. The way the leadership of the lawyers dealt with the enormously charged up marchers who dispersed at the end of the march shows the peaceful passion of the movement, which has put the dictator in a jar, through which he cannot escape.

  1. The only positive coming out of this ‘drive’ was the civilised attitude of the protest. Period. Other than that, I humbly apologize, you are just exaggerating the whole issue. I, for one, still fail to understand what was achieved, now that a week has passed.
Also, do kindly elaborate, why is taking oath under the PCO by Justice Choudary acceptable, and when the rest do that they are termed traitors? I ask this since the ‘drive’ was to reinstate him…a PCO judge.
