Like Coalition, Judges Also Splinter

After the eight judges of Sindh High Court, five more judges of Lahore High Court have agreed to take fresh oath to join the judiciary fray once again without the deposed chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary. Punjab Governor, Salman Taseer has signed the summary for the appointment of 5 deposed judges of the Lahore High Court.

Justice Saqib Nisar, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Umar Ata Bindyal are the new ones to break their fast at the time just before Maghrib and this has practically given a huge blow to the lawyers’ cum justice movement. It is learnt that two more judges from Peshawar High Court and some judges from Supreme court have agreed to take fresh oath.

What implication does this breakup of judges from their long standing stance is? By all means it would create extremely hard time for the lawyers movement and they would have to realign themselves and they need to act swiftly before all the judges except Iftikhar Chaudhary take fresh oath. Salman Taseer, the governor of Punjab is throwing money and clout like hell to win the judges back and he is being successful up till now.

When PPP says that the judges would be restored and they cannot give the time line, they exactly mean that they are in the process of purchasing the judges to restore them and obviously that cannot be tied up to the time frame as every man has his price and some prices are high enough to take time.

But lawyers must remain steadfast and so are the judges who are loyal to the judiciary struggle as this nefarious process of maligning the judiciary would only filter the purest from the clean. Judiciary has to be freed and that is the only elixir for Pakistan and cronies like Salman Taseer are just bugs waiting to be dismissed by the tides of time.

  1. Sameer, you might want to read what you wrote above. The message you seem to be giving is that those judges of the Punjab High Court who have decided to agreed to take a fresh oath have been bought / sold. Please, confirm that you are implying that following 5 judges of the Punjab High Court have taken money from the Governor of Punjab, Mr Salman Taseer, the judges are:

    1) Justice Saqib Nisar
    2) Justice Asif Saeed Khosa
    3) Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry
    4) Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed
    5) Justice Umar Ata Bindyal

You have suggested that, “When PPP says that the judges would be restored and they cannot give the time line, they exactly mean that they are in the process of purchasing the judges to restore them and obviously that cannot be tied up to the time frame as every man has his price and some prices are high enough to take time.”

Are you saying that at the right price that at the right price PPP will be able to buy more of them as “every man his price”.

If the whole issue was just the “price” or “high enough price” then don’t you think in the name of justice etc. a great injustice has been allowed to us the poor of this nation. Is that what you and many like yourself have been supporting at such high cost to the nation?

I am curious, how do you feel about it?
