Khalid Mahmood’s Body and Kashmir Singh’s Fanfare

By revo • Mar 11th, 2008 • Category: Misc • 2 Comments •

His nails had been pulled off, his body bore torture marks and his eyes had sunk, and when he died after gruesome torture, the body of Khalid Mahmood was handed over to his relatives in Pakistan by the Indian authorities.

Khalid Mahmood went to India in 2005 to Mohali to watch cricket match, and he was arrested by RAW on charges of spying. Whereas Pakistani minister Ansar Burni handed over the convicted Indian spy Kashmir Singh in greath health and shape in one piece to Indian authorities with all the fanfare in the world.

Ansar Burni may have gathered lots of praises from the Indian and international media, but he failed to get any praises from the domestic media, who was aptly more concerned about the dead body of their cricket fan rather than the release of a proven spy from India.

It was a good thing on part of Pakistan to release the spy, but the real objection is on this one way traffic. While we are releasing their spies, they are sending us the body parcels of our innocent people who just went to the land of Hindutva to watch a cricket match.

  1. It is ironic for Ansar Burni that he did not get any fan fare going his way in India. The Indian media were relatively (or understandably) un concerned with Kashmir Singh’s release.

  2. Dear MK
“Indian Media were unconcerned about kashmir singh’s release” is untrue. Let us examine the case of a spy.He is never owned by his host country. Kashmir singh was never owned by Indian government and his statement after his release that he was doing spying work created a furore in india itslef. He and his wife were given 5000 rupees each as pension by Punjab government just now. His family was left in lurch to fend for themselves all these 36 years.
Now Khalid Mohamed came to india as a spectator in Apr.2005 and went untraced with 6 others for nearly a year. He was arrested on May 2006 with sensitive documents to be deklivered to a passenger in samjuahta express..His family in Pakistan also never bothered about his whereabouts all these 3 years. This i think is a classic case of pakistan intelligence disowning their guy.Indian government doesnot admit to torture.Well when US government is legalisiing waterboarding, one can never say.He was treated in safdarjang hospital and AIIMs but didnot respond to stomach ailment.
Spying has been going on from time immemorial.Let us not confuse spying with Sabotage by enemy agents.Spies will never be acknowledged by host country. We have 3 pakistani spies who have completed their sentence but not accepted by pakistani government. So they languish here in India
