Joint Efforts for Peace
By Dr. Hassan Isfahani • Nov 4th, 2008 • Category: Politics • 2 Comments •It is clear even to the Americans and British and many European nations that the war and operations are getting them nowhere in Afghanistan and there is no way they could win this war in the near or even far future. They have understood that if they carry on with this armed streak, they could face even more economic crisis and this approach would only make them bankrupt and broke, drained, and humiliated.
It’s not the war of Pakistan, rather it’s a complex violent chaos in which every stakeholder is fighting for it’s own vested interest and no one is achieving anything, rather all are ending up with their burned hands. The leaders of Pakistan People’s Party, the ruling party must understand that and they should stop parroting whatever their Mr. Widower says, who knows nothing about the affairs of state and the state of affairs.
We should also start talking with the militants. Pakistan Army should cease fire and stay there, while the political leaders from all parties should jointly reach out to the elders of the tribe and with their help strike public truce with the militants and convince them to join the mainstream and shun militancy and expel the foreigners. This is the only way out of this problem.
