Joe Biden in Pakistan

According to the Marc Ambinder of The Atlantic, “I gather that what impressed Obama about Biden is that Biden gets things done. He’s a man of action. He’s not a bullshitter. I also get the sense that Biden, 65, is pretty well aware that, at age 73 in eight years, he’s not going to be a viable presidential choice, and thus convinced Obama that because the vice presidency would be his terminal position, the famous Biden ego will take a subordinate role.”

And now that Biden is on first tour to Pakistan after winning the US elections. Will he be able to get things done here? Perhaps even before he touched down in Islamabad, the government is frantically trying to straighten the knots and in that foolish frenzy, a huge embarrassing incident happened which resulted in the dismissal of national security advisor by the Prime Minister Gilani, as Gilani was racy boiler over the fact that he wasnt’ taken into confidence before declaring to the media that Ajmal Kasab, the culprit of Mumbai terror attacks, was a Pakistani.

When Musharraf promulgated emergency in Pakistan in 2007, Joe Biden said in his column at Huffpo:

I’ve been saying for some time that Pakistan is probably the most dangerous and complex country we deal with. If I were president today, I would be on the phone with Musharraf myself and make clear to him the risk to Pakistani-US relations if he does not restore the constitution, permit free and fair elections and take off his uniform as promised.

Joe Biden has always maintained over the years that US administration must extend support out of the way to the moderate, democratic and liberal governments in Pakistan. He has always wished to get some authority to do that. Now he has got both. A democratic government in Pakistan and the authority to act. He could be help to Pakistan and to the region in better time. Pakistan is battling with the terrorism and due to the US policies in the region is at the a very alarming juncture and its economy is in shambles.

Pakistan wants to help the world, but needs help from the world. Pakistan is facing the inner threat from the terrorists and the outer threat from the India, which has never accepted the independence of Pakistan. Joe Biden, if wants to make any difference and resolve the issues, then he has to act differently from the likes of John Negroponte and Richard Boucher and maintain a balance and try out an earnest effort to help out Pakistanis.

This time, welcome Joe Biden,  but this welcome depends upon what you really do here.
