Jiyala President

By Altaf Khan • Sep 16th, 2008 • Category: Politics • 4 Comments •

Jiyala loosely means a deveotee, and it has become a buzzword nowadays and largely taken as a devotee of Pakistan People’s Party, and not so long ago, Asif Ali Zardari in Punjab House has declared that soon people would see a Jiyala Sadar in the President House, and even then we knew that by that he meant himself.

Now he is there, he has got many challenges to deal with and the foremost two of the lot are economic condition of the country and the sovereignty of Pakistan in danger from the Western borders. Asif Ali Zardari has to give what the nation wants, and he has to deliver, otherwise it would be fatal for not only himself, for his party, but also for the country at large, and right now we are practically fighting for our survival.

Since the elections earlier this year, we have been hearing about the change, and now at last we have got it. President Zardari’s election has completed the democratic process that began with the February 18 general elections.  But still there is no urgency on the part of the ruling people. We expect that the Jiyala president would do something energetic and speedy to do these things up, and to meet the expectations of the people.

Time is running out for everyone.

  1. What could be the fate of the country where people with no standing in terms of their own existence expel as slogan such words after appointment or selection of their legitimate president that could never become their fate as destiny? Nonsense and irrelevant article

  2. You are very much right that the process of election is complete but to me it is too early to speculate anything. Lets wait and watch to what this Jiyala President has in his plate for us. Lets hope for the best.

  3. “Jiyala loosely means a deveotee” - In which language?

  4. Pussinbalabi: modern urdu
