Jaag Pakistani Voter Jaag
By Ghazala Khan • Feb 7th, 2008 • Category: Pakistan Vote'08, Politics • 10 Comments •Though there is virtually no build up to the upcoming February elections in Pakistan, but there is no semblance of excitement in the air, which could be sniffed, if one tries hard while poking his or her nose quite intently.
Least, this campaigning and public meetings have provided a chance for the hapless public to criticize the regime and open up their hearts about the suffering they are being persecuted with. The thing is that nation is fed up of all these farces and theatrics, and we need to change the dynamics and contexts of our political system. Enough has been tested of it, and what more could be extracted from this dead body of a system, is any body’s guess.
We need to redefine our political outlook from within and from the outside. We need to ask very seriously from ourselves as why this antagonism towards the tribal region, and why not just redefine the approaches and techniques. We should also discuss more the rampant poverty and rising unemployment in the country. We need to find out political solutions to the crisis of power, gas, water, and food. We need to identify and implement political outlook to the sectors of education and health, and that must be our mantra throughout the political process.
These are the times of soul-searching and in-depth analysis. Addressing these issues will require not just a major change in outlook, but a shift in thinking style. We, the voters of Pakistan, need to be not only forthright, daring, and well intentioned, but multi-dimensional and able to work more flexibly with our angry brothers in Pakistan and also with the world, including India and even Israel (why not?).
We need to make ourselves more and more informed and appraisal of new technology. We need to not only spend more and more time on Internet but also need to engage others on this free medium. We need to rise up from these ashes of terrorism and other crisis, and we need to show the world that we are worth democracy, and we are like any other nation can grow and sustain the democracy. We need to prove that we are stubborn enough to give sacrifices for the cause of democracy.
We must provide hope, progress, peace and stability to the posterity. Our future generations must think good about us.

I agree with Ghazala……It’s time to be proactive and do something….times are demanding some action
yes, we have to rise above the ashes of terrorism, otherwise there will be no one even to tell our story.
nice passionate thoughts.
Future is bleak and gloomy.
Nothing will happen in Pakistan unless and until the people themselves stand up and say enough is enough. This is our country and we will live our lives our way, nobody can rule us just because they feel that they are the right people.
Dear Mam,
Unfortunately we belong to a nation, who does not even know about his rights and we are expecting that they will perform their duties and responsibilities. It is very difficult at the moment. It requires lot of focus and consistancy towards the attainment of our goal of creating awareness in the nation and to prepare them to play their role as a responsible citizen of this country.
In this regard your efforts are a ray of light in the long dark night. I congratulate you for targetting the best segment (Youth) and starting work for the development of this nation.
This is a lengthy process because it will take you thirty years to make an overnight success and you have to work hard during these years then the night will come after which the whole scene will be changed. We are already working on this project and you will find us always with you in your efforts.
Wish you best best of luck for future endeavours.

Being at the lowest ebb throughout the 2007, I too believe that it is the time for us to convert all those sacrifices into something of a booming reality. Enough of the gloom and doom, we MUST rise above and shine to make our presence felt on the global horizon for all the good reasons. Time’s just coming our way to grab and mould it according to our aspirations of a true democratic Pakistan. Let’s have our say and be counted, otherwise we’ll left empty handed.
Nice thoughts Ghazala!
keep it up!
I agree wiht Ghazala. For the sake of democracy, we vote on the basis of ability of the candidate not on the basis of cost or party.
Unfortunately, Benazir’s murder has had a chilling effect on the entire political process, particularly on the street rallies and large public gatherings. Or, possibly, the people are just tired or lack the enthusiasm for it. However, I do see some activity on TV channels including talk shows and TV commercials. Maybe Pakistani elections are moving from the streets to TV screens and the media.
On another subject, you’ve left a message for me on my website without an email address to contact you. Please send me an email with your return email address so I can respond you.
