It’s all about oil

We seldom approach our sentimentalities as a Pakistani toward the American war on Iraq with mixed reactions. It’s either oil or religion, we’d say, never terrorism. But oh, give those warmongering idiots some rest after all even they can make mistakes, e.g., the time their nukes went missing.
But as the American focus shifts towards Iran, there is fear that Pakistan might lose its most important deal. Pakistan has shown haste in getting under way with the IPI (Iran-Pakistan-India) oil pipeline. “Pakistan is keen to move ahead (with the pipeline project) and I want to see whether India is ready to engage with us fully or it would like to spend some more time thinking about it,” Syed Naveed Qamar, the minister for Finance and Economic Affairs told the Khaleej Times.
In this shows of keenness and haste, Pakistani officials fail to recognise the more important issues at hand, one of the Baluchi autonomy and their regular blow-ups. Since the government so easily ignores the past events, Pakistan it seems is headed yet again into the abyss of bad decisions. With Iran in the picture, things are just worsening up.
Fuel prices have risen to record-levels now. With petrol and diesel prices soaring the sky, what I fear is a severe civilian angst and an uprising. What is your take on the matter?
