Is this how Indians return a favor?
By Ammar Yasir • Mar 15th, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 7 CommentsHow many of you were actually planning of going to India for the upcoming Indian Premiere League this year?Well for all you cricket lovers out there; let’s have a little reality check. In case you loose your passport or any other official document by ‘MISTAKE’ and you happen to be a poor Pakistani on an Indian land then chances are that you might end up dead after six years of physical torture. Like this cricket loving poor fellow; Khalid Mahmood, who went to watch the Mohali test but never came back.
4th March 2008, Obaid ullah was watching Kashmir Singhs return to his loved ones. Celebrations on the Wagah border, dances, music, happy faces and loads of Indian and Pakistani Media coverage. One hour later the phone rungs, Obaid answers the phone and found out that his brother Khalid died on the 28th of February (about a week ago). I wonder what took them this long to inform.
Now I want to go back in history when Khalid was in a prison near Delhi. His family tells the media that their beloved Khalid (who was just a conductor in a transport company) was badly tortured by Inidan police and agencies officials. They daily use to pour steamy hot water on his head, which resulted in permanent lost of hair. They also nailed his feet while torturing that made him handicap. His body couldn’t take any of this inhuman treatment and gave up on his life.
The same Wagah border that was all festive few days ago was depicting sorrow and grief. Every eye was wet. Khalid’s mother, sisters and brothers were crying their heart out but there was no Govt official to condole them. The role of the Pakistani High commission was predictably hopeless, it was a small case of passport misplacement but why would they help an innocent Pakistani when our own local jails are filled with innocent souls.
I was expecting some kind of protest from the Indian community not on official level but certainly from the human rights groups and activists. Unlike our country India claims to be the biggest democracy on the face of the earth. We witness every day thousands of Indians marching on the roads of Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta etc protesting on everything from dear hunting, Sania Mirza’s mini skirt to Sania Mirza’s disrespect to the national flag but will a single Indian will march out of his house and protest for Khalid Mahmood? I guess I am expecting too much. Who will protest for a Pakistani Muslim
In fact the blood of Muslims is the cheapest at this time of the year, especially when that Muslim happens to be a Pakistani.
The unfortunate question on every Pakistani’s mouth; is this how the Indians return a favor?

Dear Ammar, I can understand your pain. But you must also know the full facts. Khalid mohamed came to view the Mohali test along with thousands of fans. All returned to pakistan after seeing the test or stayed back with relatives with extended visa. But 5 fans just vanished. Inspite of various efforts made by the police of punjab, these 5 people just vanished. It was presumed by indian authorities that they are intelligence agents or infiltrated by Jehadies. Normally if you loose your passport, a procedure is laid down and lakhs of Pakistanies who visit India to meet their relatives just report to the local police station incase they loose their passport..Khalid didnot do so as the other four who are still missing.
When Khalid was apprehended with a package for a passenger in Samjhutha express, he was grilled and i am sure third degree is used as is the norm in our countries which is never admitted. He was also produced in court but the pakistan embassy refused to acknowledge him as a pakistani citizen thereby confirming the suspicion of Indian authorities.During his undertrial detention, he developped complications of stomach and he was not able to recover inspite of treatment at AIIMS.The readers can make their own conclusion about the incident after knowing the Fullfacts.

He spent 6 years in prison. His family visited him and it took six long years for the Indian police to realize that the poor fellow was innocent. In Samjhota case, there was a huge security lapse and mis management of the Indian officials. People were locked inside and were allowed to die. And to cover their faults; all the blame was imposed on the Indian Muslim relatives of the Pakistani victims and people like Khalid Mahmood.
He is not the first and the last case Johann! about 300 Pakistani innocent civilians are facing similar torture on false charges. We initiated the first step by handing over Kashmir Singh and in return we got a gift in a coffin bag with a thank you note.

Johann your facts could be right. There is no denying that but the timing of handing over the body is just miserable. It somehow reflects to me an attitude non-compliant with the broader understanding of the events. But i think the statement telling me that Pakistani embassy people deserted him needs to be ratified and if found to be true should be dealt with seriously.

Wonderful article!
Sepoy Maqbool Hussein, Khalid Mehmood and many other Pakistanis…how many spies are we going to release in exchange of dead bodies and POWs made mentally unstable?
June 1st, 2008
Problem is not with India. India is acting as true Enemy…problem is at our side. We are showing our weaknesses by releasing same kind of Spies Free of Cost. If you will keep doing like this then India will keep killing rest of Pakistanis in their prison. If today, Pakistan will start giving Punishment to Indian Spies or terrorists according to law, India won’t be able to even touch Pakistani in future.
We have already gave lot of favors to India and result is in front of every body. They have started constructing Dams on Jhelum and Chenab, They are killing our Pakistani in their prison, They are still putting allegation Pakistan for every bomb attack, they are sending spies in Baluchistan for internal unrest, Their RAW is working in Afghanistan with full force, They still keeps posts in Sia Chin etc…
Its our duty to open our eyes and keep alert from their activities. India can’t eat us so why to get afraid. Just do talks and bargains at equal level. Why to bend so much that tomorrow they kick on Pakistan Ass…as already they are trying to do from Afghanistan Border.
