Interview with Blogger Photoz
By The Pakistani Spectator • Jul 1st, 2008 • Category: Interviews • 3 CommentsWould you please tell us something about you and your site?
I am a born-again Christian. My first blog became a very popular debate site for Christians vs atheists. I wanted a blog dedicated to Christians only, so i started adopted.wordpress.com. Since then, my new blog has also become fairly popular with atheists, though less-so than the first blog. I also have a youtube site: www.youtube.com/adopted3
Do you feel that you continue to grow in your writing the longer you write? Why is that important to you?
My command of the English language is probably not as good as it was when I was in college. However, I think that so long as there is clarity, the most important thing is content.
I’m wondering what some of your memorable experiences are with blogging?
- When some of the Christians in one of the churches I attend secretly discovered my (old) blog and began collecting information to use against me one day.
What do you do in order to keep up your communication with other bloggers?
Whenever I receive a comment from another blogger, I always visit their blog and read an article or two and post a comment. Some blogs have become favorites that I regularly visit.
What do you think is the most exciting or most innovative use of technology in politics right now?
I think the most exciting and innovative technology that relates to politics is nuclear bombs. I believe they will become increasingly more relevant as time goes on. Some people think it’s all over. I think it hasn’t even begun yet.
Do you think that these new technologies are effective in making people more responsive?
I think people are not responsive at all to nuclear bombs. They are more worried about global warming and the price of gas. Most people are very unintelligent.
What do you think sets Your site apart from others?
I never tell lies.
If you could choose one characteristic you have that brought you success in life, what would it be?
All I have was given to me by God. I thank Him for giving me a rather large portion of faith. This has brought me much success and delight. I would prefer more love, however, and I continue to discuss this with Him.
What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?
I have had many happy moments and many gloomy moments. I will try to answer the best I can. The happiest moment might have been when my first son was born and I held him and sang to him and he smiled at me. The gloomiest time is probably the three months following the day that my wife told me she was leaving me for another man.
If you could pick a travel destination, anywhere in the world, with no worries about how it’s paid for - what would your top 3 choices be?
1. Israel
2. Grenada (Eastern Caribbean)
3. Greece
What is your favorite book and why?
The Holy Bible, because it confirms to me everything that the Holy Spirit teaches to me.
What’s the first thing you notice about a person (whether you know them or not)?
How big their mouth is.
Is there anyone from your past that once told you you couldn’t write?
No.
How bloggers can benefit from blogs financially?
I suppose if one has a very popular blog, they may put advertisements up; however, I think wordpress and blogspot disallow this. Perhaps linking a blog to an related online store would bring some financial benefit. For example, somebody could have a “pro-life / anti-abortion” blog, and also an online store selling pro-life stickers and shirts. Then in the links section of the blog, they could put a link to their store.
Is it true that who has a successful blog has an awful lot of time on their hands?
I think there is some truth to that; however, some busy people find time to post regularly to their blog and have a very successful blog anyways.
What role can bloggers of the world play to make this world more friendlier and less hostile?
Bloggers are a reflection of all types of people in this world. Only those who are interested in making the world friendlier would ever do this. They might be able to do so by making connections with people from different countries and dispelling myths / stereotypes about certain nationalities, religions, or ethnic groups.
Who are your top five favourite bloggers?
http://heavenawaits.wordpress
http://scotti.wordpress.com/
http://www.desiringgod.org
http://www.heartcrymissionary
http://daily.presbycan.ca
Is there one observation or column or post that has gotten the most powerful reaction from people?
http://adopted.wordpress.com
What is your perception about Pakistan and its people?
I believe that Pakistan is composed primarily of “punjabi” people. I am aware that there is a wide range of religious beliefs, including Islam, Sikh, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity. I believe the people are more “religious” than in most nations. I think the punjabi people are very attractive. I think Pakistan clearly has a problem with Muslim extremism; however, I believe the government and police force work hard to deal with this problem. My overall sense is that Pakistan is a positive nation in that region of the world. I would definitely visit Pakistan before I would visit India, China, Russia, or many other nations.
Have you ever become stunned by the uniqueness of any blogger?
Yes, this blog that is full of blatant blasphemy: http://bigoldgod.blogspot.com/
What is the most striking difference between a developed country and a developing country?
In a developing country, the people are more likely to find God and store up treasure in heaven instead of on this earth.
What is the future of blogging?
I suspect it will combine with the online video concept (e.g. youtube), and will grow as a very large and important phenomenon of personal “news” and perspectives.
You have also got a blogging life, how has it directly affected both your personal and professional life?
Sometimes I get too busy; writing articles and replying to comments. This can cut into my work time and personal life. (Eating properly, etc.)
What are your future plans?
To live Christ until I die.
