Interview with Blogger Ordinary Girl

By The Pakistani Spectator • Aug 20th, 2008 • Category: Interviews • 6 Comments

I am a 23 year old Lahori, who has this blog to talk about how I view different things in life.

Could you tell us what made you decide to blog, and what was the inspiration behind it?

I came across Fatima’s blog while searching for some wedding-related things and really liked how she used her blog to talk about everything from her wedding preparations to the happenings in the country. I already had habit of sometimes writing down my feelings, so I thought writing them on a blog would make my life easier since my typing speed can more easily keep up with my thinking speed, rather than my writing. :)

What do you think sets Your blog apart from other blogs?

I don’t talk about politics! :D I do that a lot in my personal life but I have seen so much bloodshed over this topic at different Pakistani blogs that I completely avoid it on my blog.

If you could choose one characteristic you have that brought you success in life, what would it be?

First, it depends how you define success. I think, if you are content and not ashamed of what you are today then you are successful. By that definition, Alhamdulliah, I am successful :) I would attribute it to sincerity and my belief.

What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?

I am a Libran, therefore incapable of thinking about things in superlative terms :)

Urdu Blogs have got huge potential, when do you think they will really take on the online horizon in Pakistan?

When writing in Urdu script becomes easier.

If you could pick a travel destination, anywhere in the world, with no worries about how it’s paid for - what would your top 3 choices be?

*deep breath* Very tough question! I want to visit EVERY country in the world but picking the top 3.…hmmm
1. Spain
2. Venice
3. Egypt

What is your favorite book and why?

I read a lot and I am totally not into the real literature! :D I read romance novels and I admit it openly! ;) A Kingdom of Dreams and Perfect by Judith McNaught.

What is your favorite meal, dress, and sport?

Chicken Biryani or Sabzi Pullao with Chicken Karhayi
Shalwar kameez
There was a time before 2007 World Cup when I used to love cricket :P

What’s the first thing you notice about a person (whether you know them or not)?

Dressing and way of talking

Whose Future is more bright in Pakistan; English blogs or Urdu Blogs?

I think that would be English blogs because of their wider reach in the world

How Pakistani bloggers can benefit from blogs financially?

Can’t say much, I know Google Adsense only by name! :D

Do you think Pakistani bloggers tend to remain somewhat self-centered and really don’t go out of their shells? Is it the oriental style of blogging, or they are still unsure about it?

I think Pakistani bloggers are extremely informed about the world and they talk about every sort of topic.

What do you think where the Pakistani blogosphere is right now?

I think it’s wonderfully thriving and it’s going places. :)

Who are your top five favourite bloggers in Pakistan?

Specs’ uniqueness

All Things Pakistan
Haleem’s wit (I know he’s not a Pakistani but I like his blog a lot…)

Have you ever become stunned by the uniqueness of any blogger in Pakistani blogosphere?

I don’t get stunned that easily. But Specs has my admiration for her individuality :)

What is the future of blogging in Pakistan?

Very bright

You have also got a blogging life, how has it directly affected both your personal and professional life?

I am already so active in my virtual life that my personal and virtual lives both are going smoothly together.

What are your future plans?

To be a better person and a Muslim.

  1. Very interesting and nice interview! I use to visit her blog because I think is is nteresting to read about a Pakistani woman who writes both about her life and about her country, and she is writing about it in a good way.

  2. Excellent interview! I think its great that we’re getting more and more informed Pakistani women in the blogosphere who’re talking about this country from their point of view. Its great to let the world know, we;re a nation of 150 million people. Terrorists do not define us.. and we, the women of Pakistanm refuse to standby and let others define us. Its time someone stood up for Pakistanis in an unibased manner, and you’re invaluable as far as this mission is concerned. :)

    Keep blogging.

    And thanks for the mention!

  3. Better include Politics in your blog… A blog without politics is like “an egg without salt.” ;-)

  4. Very nice and candid interview…..
