Interview with Blogger Muhammad Shoaib
By The Pakistani Spectator • Jun 13th, 2009 • Category: Interviews • One ResponseI am Muhammad Shoaib. I hold a degree in Computer Science & I develop software for living. I like to read & am trying to enjoy writing. I am a fan of Ghalib. And I appreciate any good piece of Urdu poetry. I try to look like a cool dude, but poeple tell me, its Pind Dadan Khan, printed all over me and I kinda like to be that way. Yes I hail from P.D. Khan.
I blog at http://blog.shaibee.com (yes this is just a redirection, but it looks cool to have it in your name
Initially when I started to blog, somewhere in 2005, it was just to have some presence on the web, just like everybody else. That blog stayed alive for 3 months only.
In my second spell, that I started towards the end of 2007, I was asked to recommend somebody for Islamabad Metblog, and I recommended myself
I owe thanks to IMB team, for accepting my recommendation though.
I wanted to give it a try, and somehow it got along. And one day I thought I should have my personal blog too … so I started Gardish (as-sani)
Nothing as such except the fact that it contains my posts.
I think its hard to attribute success to some single characteristic. Its always a multitude of many things, and most of the times, I dont see any role for myself in it. It just came to me.
There have been many happy moments in my life, and I enjoyed all of them. I may not be able to rank them. They were all good.
The gloomiest was when my father’s deadbody arrived at our door. I was around 17 years of age. It was 4 in morning, when ambulance came from hospital. My mother woke me up only to tell that my father was no longer with us. It was like … may be can’t describe it. I pray for his soul to be in peace.
I miss him a lot.
Its more of a mindset. The moment we started taking Urdu seriously, as a language, the take-on will begin. No sooner than that.
My current list of to-go places include:
1 ) Makkah & Madinah, KSA (For Hajj)
2 ) Cordova & Granada, Spain
3 ) Egypt (in winters please)
I dont have any favorite book. Any good book will apeal to me.
Nowadays, by the virtue of living in the UK, and cooking my food by myself, a well cooked meat curry (Halal please) is my favorite food. I’ll go for it, wherever I find it, well cooked. Dress, a light cotton shalwar suit if at home, or jeans when outside. Sport, I am a lazy chap. Not much into sports. BTW I get involved watching Pakistan’s cricket matches, and I like watching Footbal Worldcup, not league Footbal.
Recently I have started challenging my friends in chess. And I am good at taking games to draw, by testing my oponent’s patience ![]()
Aaahh, I think PAF Mess Kalabagh is a nice place. And Shugran is better than that.
Well, different people have different notable things. Some have attire, some have smile, some eyes. Its all subjective. I just notice whatever is noticeable.
I don’t have any say on that, as I am not much into following blogs. There are just few I follow, so cannot predict any trend. Good blogs, be it Urdu or English, definitely have bright future. (Yes rite, I know how to be diplomatic
Google Ads?
Themed blogs, producing quality content, can attract revenue … but I think it gonna be ads anyway. (Or may be I am too dumb to think of any other option.)
I dont know about anybody else, but its true for me at least. My blog is mostly about myself. And I think the reason behind this is just the convinience of writing about a well known subject, one’s own self. You need to research a bit, to write about anything else. Majority of people are lethargic.
Dont know.
I dont have any favorites as in *my favorite car* or *my favorite teacher*. There are few bloggers who write good, and I follow them. Other than that, anything good, appeals to me.
No.
Again, I am too naive to comment on that.
Well, so far, it hasn’t. May be sometime in future.
I am a short-term planner. I can’t plan for too far. Most of my plans are a year or two, long. My current plans are to go for Hajj and to marry a nice girl
